Hello! I'm a 17 year old and I've been in denial for quite some time. Right now I just want to keep the hair I have left and work on other treatments to maybe gain some hair back. Been here for a couple of months and I've noticed most of you recommend finansteride and minoxidil. I'm very aware that I'm a bit too young for finansteride so I just want to know if there are other options? And where to get these, an estimate of how much it will cost aswell.
Thanks

Finasteride, like you mentioned lowers DHT levels, which is what causes male pattern baldness. If you're losing hair, its the best option.
Minoxidil also works. You can get it over the counter and its the active ingredient in Rogaine. Where finasteride works to stop hairloss, Min works to promote more growth.
Then there's shampoos like Nizoral. Those you can get in the supermarket aswell.

Starting using Rogaine now and get on finasteride as soon as you can. You can get minoxidil over the counter for about 40 bucks for a 3 months supply. You can get generic finasteride after you get a prescription from Costco for about 20-30 dollars a month iirc or 4 dollars a month from Sam's Club.

You can use natural DHT inhibitors like Saw Palmetto and Genugreek. While obviously not as powerful as finasteride it would definitely be better than not using them. You can purchase them online from retailers like amazon and you can be any age to buy them :)

what age did you start puberty? The general wisdom is not to start finasteride until 18 but that is a very shoddy guideline. If you went through puberty early and have finished growing then I don't see the problem starting at 17. However if you were someone like me who didn't really start puberty until 15, then even 18 would be pushing it. All depends.

Agree, late bloomer are not the best case for early finasteride
