Been on Dr Redddy's Dutas EOD for six months and my hair is alot thicker. Thicker than it was even after 2 years on finasteride.
I may have regrown some but , but the biggest improvement is the overall volume and robustness of existing hair Just wanted to add my testimonial, as there are a few that doubt the efficiency of dutas.

Harry, so would you say you recovered from about a year ago when your hair started to get worse especially in the crown before you started on dutas. I remember you got bummed out and thought you were losing your fight. I still use Proxiphen at night but very sparingly. I have started back with the Rogaine foam once daily again and already my areas of application are getting thin. I still love how that stuff goes on. I cut down on the Propecia to .5mg but I think that is not going to make a drastic difference. I am asking you if you bounced back because I am just hoping this is my normal synchronized shed again. I do remember for the past 2 years this is the time of year my hair does tend to thin out more. You think I should stick with the foam and ride it out again. I bought the sinere nanominox fms and it seems to dry my hair more due to the ketoconazole and some alcohol in it .My hair was doing great from Jan to Mid March this year, it felt thicker and heavier and now its getting more diffuse thinning and more fly away hairs. I actually have grown an isolated terminal hair fully in my juvenile hairline. I plucked it out before and it came back.

Yes I have improved. I think it was a shed. There were some changes i made around that time. But yes the dutas has significantly improved the vertex and midscalp but the front is still about the same as finasteride which really is not a bad thing.. Hair quality is better overall.

The minoxidil liquid with retin-a works better for me.

good to hear Harry, update on hlh, and see if they dont give you sh*t about sides. Im a month and a half in on dutasteride and the hair is still looking good from 9.5 months on finasteride but i think im going through a shed although not cosmetically noticeable yet, just seeming like more hair fallout. im taking 1 avodart daily. Im hoping for some solid maintainance for awhile to come, i'll update in a month or two as well...

By the way, did you ever consider using topical spironolactone to "offset the rise in scalp testosterone" from dutasteride? I know that the rise in scalp T causing problems from dutasteride is a bit of a myth, but i have some 5% cream and am thinking about using it on the hair line just for a boost..

I honestly think testosterone has little or any impact on follicles sensitive to DHT. I will warn that I did temporarily lose some of my finasteride gains from shed in months 2-4. That may not happen to you but If it does, don't freak your self out of quiting before the end of month six.
Adding spironolactone is good as long as you can put up with the stench

My main concern is keeping the test from aromatizing. I dropped the finasteride completely and just use dutasteride EOD with ZMA and DIM. I do think DIM works. I lost some fat since using it regular.

ok, could you explain to me what effect testosterone aromatizing would have? Does that have anything to do with hair or does that have something more to do with fat and developing gyno through too much estrogen, is that right?

Also, although i did kinda freak when i had a finasteride shed on months 2-3 im really glad i stuck it out, so even if i do shed a lot theres no way im dropping dutasteride because of that anyway.

Hey H/B,

Great to hear dutasteride is doing it for you...

If you dont mind, can you give a summary of your timeline with regmins and how your hair has responded. You say you have been on dutasteride for 6 months now and see a thickening up, did you have any shedding during that period? and how long did it take for you to see an actual response- thanks mate.

BTW

I stopped using topical spironolactone cos it smelt aweful and I was getting weird looks from people- it smells like Marijuana. When it reacts with Minoxidil it gives different smells and I was getting al types, which is another reason I stopped using it, cos there was a reaction taking place....

The elevation of test from dutasteride may aromatize and cause bloating , fatty nips, or full blown gyno. I was getting itchy sensitive nipples. This was happening when taking the dutasteride with finasteride on alternative days but stopped when I dropped the finasteride and just stayed with dutasteride EOD.

I know theoretically finasteride should be obsolete if using dutasteride, but that has never been proven. There are no studies of showing what happens when you take them both together. I suspect more complete 5 AR reduction. Nothing Scientific, but I can certainly tell a difference when using them together.

I use DIM which I believe will prevent gyno , but may not be strong enough to reverse it if it happens. I just use i it provalacticly. I also keep my zinc up levels which may help the liver metabolize E. http://www.musclephotos.com/zinc.html

With finasteride I notice some decent improvement at month three, but had a few bouts of shedding where things looked worse than baseline for a while. By month 16, I had seen the best results. I would say moderate or better regrowth and overall thickening. I would sometimes for whatever reason lose density at times but hair aways seemed to recover.

With dutasteride, hair looked thicker and darker early into month 2 but then I started to lose ground fast. It seemed like I lost most of what I gained from finasteride in a very short period of time. I was getting that Island look up front again and my crown was starting to look like a baboon's ***. I even had my boss busting my balls laughing, "what happened back here?" pointing to his crown. When I got home and looked in the mirror, I was pretty bummed out by the way things were going, but was encouraged by the initial thickening that I saw before the shed. I would say by month 5 things started to turn around and by month six, I can say hair is significantly thicker than before I started.

I am very pleased. It is still early in the game and there may still be more improvement, but I would be happy to hold what i have now. The over all volume of the hair and coverage up top has been most improved.

Congrats H/B. did I read correct? Did you switch back to Dr. Lee's pre-mixed minoxidil w/retin-a or do you still apply them seperately?
