Hi guys,

Just wondering if any of you dutasteride users have had the same issue as me. about 7 months ago I started on dutasteride, taking .5 mg every other day along win minoxidil. the first 6 months I had tremendous growth where I had a brand new hairline and crown fully filled. I never had the initial shedding as some experience

however, In the last 4 weeks I've had major shedding and now I'm back to where I started prior to taking dutasteride. Is this a normal cycle or should I be worried?

thanks

minoxidil users often report periodic shedding of hair that tends to regrow. The idea seems to be that minoxidil somehow synchronizes the growth cycle of regrown hairs. You'll just have to wait and see. Don't change your regimen over the next 2 to 3 months.

So you think it's the minoxidil that's causing the shedding and not the dutasteride.

I will continue my regimen as is, but I'm really hoping this shedding can come to a stop, almost in panic mode.

Hairs grow in cycles, some temporaly shedding is normal, keep calm and stick with the treatement

If you had regrowth earlier and she'd I wouldn't worry too much. Probably cycling hairs. Take pics and document constantly so u know exactly what's going on

Can you share ur regrowth pics with us? I'm considering starting dutasteride

Yes I am also on Dutasteride and minoxidil and have a periodic shed every 6 to 9 months. It always comes back.

sorry for being away guys. As of right now I'm still shedding but it seems to have slowed a bit. It has been approximately 4.5 months of shedding.

I did have pictures of my original growth but I had lost my phone and pictures with it.

I will post pictures tomorrow of my hair at present and hopefully in a few months I'll post pictures of the regrowth. Hopefully the same growth that I initially had.

I do recommend dutasteride to anyone based on the initial growth I had and no sides whatsoever.

Hoping this shed ends soon and I have the same regrowth.

I have used finasteride in the past but had been off it for 2 years before taking dutasteride. OTE="iamgotham, post: 1466618, member: 129345"]Hey @Johnshaker , did you used Finasteride before Dutasteride?[/QUOTE]

Just an update, it has now been 14 months and still shedding.

This doesn't make sense. How is it possible I had regrowth for the first 6 months and then all of a sudden 14 month of shedding and not stopping. Do you guys think it's time to stop the dutasteride?

seriously? how is your hair condition at the moment?

I am currently experiencing the same with you. Just see my thread.

I've been consuming dutasteride 0.5mg/ed since June 2017, and had significant regrowth all over my scalp where i initially had hair.

but then in january 2018, my hairs start to shed (mostly healthy looking hair, and some miniaturized hairs) until now. i feel that my hairline and temples area are even receded further now.

is this normal?????

need help

Yes hair has receded worse and crown is definitely thinner then before dutasteride. I don't know how/why this happened, and whether to cut my losses now and stop dutasteride or continue and hopefully have it regrow. But like I said this has been going on for 14 months now.

It seems like you have the same time line as me 6 months growth and then massive shedding. I hope you don't end up like me and continue this shedding for another year.

Wish you the best and let me know how it goes.

Do you take 0.5mg daily ? Dont take it when you think you should, take it daily. I've never heard about a nonstop shedding in 0.5mg daily but I have read lots of histories about hair getting sh*t with 0.5 mg "one day or another"

I have been using every other day ever since I started.

Another thing to add, ever since the shedding I feel. My scalp is very dry and almost hurts. Any idea why that could be?
