Does anyone have a guess as to how much Elton John's wig would cost per year and how frequently it would need replacing?

I don't think you are really asking the right question. I think you're asking how much it would cost to purchase a hair system of the highest quality - like EJ's.. There's no way to know what EJ paid for his, but that doesn't mean that you can't achieve the same look and quality for a reasonable price. You can purchase a hair system made with the finest virgin European hair for under $700.

Celebrities are notorious for buying the most expensive products of all kinds & paying outrageous prices because they can afford to.

Alot. Lived In Atlanta for awhile, he has a place there, saw him in the mall one day, got pretty close up to him, first thing I looked at, if I didn't know I never would have been able to tell, its flawless

And... if you are an actor, entertainer, etc.... Your Hair can be written off as a business expense.

No...I think he has even discussed that he wears a wig openly. His hair was a huge problem for him once upon a time.

If you watch his older live vids via youtube, he was hitting a nw5 in his 20s? i don't think it would have been possible for a hair transplant since he looked like he was destined for nw8

He had a hair transplant back in the early 80's, needless to say the techniques back then were pretty bad and so he spent about 10yrs under a hat. He's Probably about a nw5 or 6 under that wig.

ps there is no NW8.
