Extremely High DHT levels even though on finasteride

i am using Finasteride 1mg/day for about 8 months. It couldn't stop my hairloss even though i got the typical side effects from it. I went to the doctor to check my hormone levels and they are really ****ed up. I don't know what to do. Estrogen is too high and especially DHT is above the charts even though i take Finasteride. Has somebody ever heard of this? My doctor knows absolutely nothing about this topic and didn't even know the difference between DHT and Testosterone...

Here are my results:

Estradiol 55.2 pg/ml (7.6-42.6)
Prolaktin 26.5 ng/ml (4.1-15.2)
Testosteron 27.2 nmol/l (8.64-29.00)
DHT >2500 pg/ml (250-990)

If i get off finasteride my DHT levels will only get even worse i think. I set up an appointment with an endocrinologist but thats in march 2015.. i don't know what the **** to do anymore... im 22 and too young for this ****

My doctor knows absolutely nothing about this topic and didn't even know the difference between DHT and Testosterone...

this is what really scares me about some of these doctors. beyond useless

if your levels are abnormal even without finasteride then clearly something's not right. All you can do is wait to see the endo and hope he's competent

Maybe you could give dutasteride a try? Its an even more potent antiandrogen than finasteride

You have normal T levels so the excess DHT is really puzzling me. Are you maybe obese? High prolactin can lead to insulin resitance and lower your SHBG resulting in excess free Testosterone, but don't take this for granted. There are a lot of things that could be going on, really. I will pm you a link for a site where you can find tons of information about similar issues. If you find something out, I'd appreciate it if you update this topic or send me a pm. Alles beste..

99% sure you are taking some steroids containing DHT. finasteride can't stop that. finasteride stops the conversion of T to DHT. If you are injecting already converted DHT into your body than finasteride is useless

What brand finasteride are you taking? Could be crappy or outright fake which would cause it to not lower your DHT levels as it should.

Do you have any relative with prostate cancer in your family ? These DHT levels are so dangerous for prostate. Be careful please.

Dont know if this thread is still active.. your prolactin is way too high which is going to boost 5 alpha reductase and in turn dht. The problem is you are taking finasteride which reduces 5 aphareductase but it does nothing to bring prolactin down. Dopamine is a prolactin agonist mucuna pruriens /ldopa or cabergoline reduce prolactin.
