So I spoke to a dermatologist today about my receeding hairline.

He said to take minoxidil for 4 months then come back. If I have no results, then he would add propecia. Now I thought Minoxidil was only for the vertex, not hairline. My doctor said that was a common misconception, that it will work anywhere on the head. So, I pick some up and right on the box it says "not intended for frontal baldness or receding hairlines." So who is telling me the truth here?

I'm pretty sure that it works for the front and temples, but it's not as effective as it would be in the crown. I was on minoxidil for a year before getting propecia, and my hairline kept going back, so from my experience, i'd go back and demand propecia or go to someone else. this next for months will just be more recession in the hairline. Also, consider avodart, it is supposedly more effective than propecia, it's just not fda approved for treating male pattern baldness, and i think you have to cut those tablets up.

btw, your hair is looking good as of now, you want to keep it that way.

I can vouch for the fact that it works in the front...I've regrown a good portion of my temples with the stuff.
