Hi all, I'll keep this as concise as possible in the interest of time.

I'm now 21- I started on finasteride (daily) on March 2nd, 2017 (19 y/o). To begin with, I combined this with minoxidil (5%) 2x per day. However, my hairloss had only begun to affect my right temple and, after 1 year of use, seeing no regain, I stopped the minxodil (March 2018). -This has had no effect on my hairline, so I conclude that it had little to no obvious effect.

Prior to starting finasteride, my right temple went from NW1 (Feb 2016)- NW1.5/2 (Febuary 2017)- so reasonably aggressive.

I stopped taking it for just over 2 months (July & August 2018) because I simply could not afford it (money is tight for a student!) --I would definitely say a lost a little ground on my left temple (which is a slightly thinning NW1 as a result), and a few miniaturized hairs on my right temple that were clinging onto their Norwood.1, juvenile past).

In terms of side effects, I have yet to experience any. I made a post before in fact, in which I talked about my increased Libido on the drug. I still feel this might be true; certainly, it has not reduced my sex drive/erectile power in any way.

Outside of this 2-month span, I have been very disciplined with my regimen and my hairloss has been halted.

If you would like me to attach photos from the start of my usage and my current hairline now, I am happy to do so.

Question: My understanding is that finasteride will probably maintain this current hairline for the next 3-5 years at which point thinning will slowly resume? Will this invariably be the case because of my age, or is it possible that the drug might hold my hairline for some time longer than that?

I am happy to switch to Dutasteride as/when the time comes that I see the process beginning to speed up again.

It might hold longer. Remember that when a product works people usualy dont come in hair and let everyone know. They just continue to take the product and move on with life.
