So my hair has been gradually thinning on top for quite a few years (I'm 36)
The thinning was probably in part genetic and part not taking care of my hair very well or my health generally
Nowadays I am very health conscious and am eating right and exercising and doing all that, and I am trying very hard to maintain my hair as long as I can
I started using an argan stem cell treatment this spring, and after 6-8 weeks, something crazy happened. I noticed it was working. My hair was not as thin on top. I had more volume and could do more with it in terms of styling it without seeing all my scalp.
Then I found out about finasteride, and starting taking it about 4 months ago, and in an attempt to do more of the same, that is, to maintain my hair as long as I can.
I don't know if it is helping. The one thing I have noticed, which may or may not be related, is that along my hairline it is noticeably thinner. Meaning I can see more of my scalp on the front of my hairline. It's thinner, and my hair has never been so thin anywhere that you can actually see my scalp.
I started noticing that after a month of taking finasteride, maybe more. But I chalked it up to being a coincidence. It seems ridiculous that the drug that is clinically proved to maintain your hair and keep it from balding would make you lose hair.
I should note that I have never found huge clumps of hair falling out or anything like that. I see stray hairs that fall out of my head all the time but that has been happening for years. But I mean more than the usual hair that comes out from rubbing your head or taking off a skull cap whatever
So I found this forum doing a search for "hair loss" and "fish oil supplement"
I have been taking an Omega 3 supplement for about 10 months and do not think it has caused hair loss for me. I have noticed no correlation from when I started taking it to any hair loss or growth.
HOWEVER I see some discussion of flax seed oil.
I am about to start on a flax seed regimen, to go along with all my other vitamins and supplements regimen. What I am going to be doing (unless I am told it is a bad idea) is to put 1 tablespoon of ground up flax seed in my daily smoothie.
Now this is not the same as flax seed OIL but obviously they are very similar.
I would love to hear input on this, and the finasteride stuff as well.
Thank you!!!
