I'm sure this topic has come up alot around here but I noticed alot of talk about impotency caused by finasteride while I was lurking on askdocweb.com forums. Its really making me nervous since I'm 25 and just started on proscar a little over a month ago. I'm hoping it helps my male pattern baldness and plan on staying on it for as long as it works but I would like to start a family at some point down the road. Has anyone on this board gotten any chicks pregnant while on finasteride or at least know anyone firsthand who has. I'd feel alot better if I read about someone having a bunch of healthy kids while taking the stuff for a least a year.

What was I thinking asking this question here? I'd be willing to bet that 80% of the guys lurking around this board are between the ages of 18-30 and are single and not thinking about getting any girls pregnant. (at least not on purpose). :freaked2: Sorry for the emoticon but I love those damned things.

you have nothing to worry about. finasteride has been around for 15 years. There have been no reports, at least none that i've seen, of problems with conception/pregnancy or health of a baby from a father taking finasteride. The only problems that arise are when the MOTHER handles broken tablets. I know you probably already know all this, and want to hear first hand from someone who has children and is on finasteride, but i thought i'd let you know just in case.
Thanks Trent. I'm probably just being paranoid but there were a few people on askdocweb site that had complained that they had no problems conceiving first child while not on finasteride but couldn't get wife pregnant again after being on finasteride for a year or so. Kind of got me rattled.
