Finasteride Dosage on a weekly basis

Finasteride Actavis is what i get here in Norway. Should i cut it up into a dose of 1,25 per piece and take it all days a week, or just 5 times a week? I’ve read both.

My doctor just said take the whole pill everyday lol.

Should not make a big difference in the end. Do whatever is easier for you and that you can stick to it. The big error ppl make with Finas is to be inconsistent with it.

1.25mg each day. Do not take 5mg once per week, finasteride has a half life of about 6 hours.

Oh do you mean just take 1.25mg 5 days a week? That should work fine. Finasteride inhibits the 5AR enzyme for a longer period of time than 6 hours, so 2 days off the drug isn’t going to make much of a difference. It takes the body a longer period of time to produce more of the enzyme. Should be ok.

You can do whatever you want...

the standard dose when splitting 5mg tabs is you would just take 1.25mg everyday which is the way ive always taken it.

Depending on the shape some guys split them into 5ths or 6ths , if you want a lower dose.

or you could take 1.25mg every other day.

there's a bunch of other ways people take as well so its fine if you do just want to take it 5 days week, but its probably over complicating it to mention all the rest.

whatever you do, only cut up one pill at a time when you need it, don't cut up the whole months worth's.

I have been on orals since 08/1999 w/ no sides. I switched to finasteride 5 mg in 11/2019 cut into 1/3's or 1.25 daily. Since I did that it is losing its efficacy. The back is thinner ( I have a circular cowlick and wavy hair). It was suggested to switch to a topical minoxidil 5% + finasteride .025 a lipogenic GEL 1 x day. The gel is hard to apply to all areas and I am worried the topical won't give me the whole head protection. Thoughts?

I thought about it. The MD thought I was plateauing when switched. Do you know anyone that had success switching back?

Ive obviously aged over that time, so a slight loss but mostly looks similar to when I started, I haven't had any sexual sides.

the 1.25mg I was on was discontinued by the manufacture, so I tried 4 other 1.25mg brands, but my hair declined on all of them, the 5th one I tried was a 1mg version which seamed to work so ive stuck to that one for now.

So If i go back to 1 mg finasteride generic I should be fine? We never know how much of this reaches the hair.

Hopefully, if you go back to the same brand you were taking before 11/2019 you should return to the same results.

most of the time I have been on 1.25mg so switching back to 1mg shouldn't be a problem.

I just baffled but age could be a factor too. I wish there was a way I could incorporate topical finasteride and minoxidil in a safe liquid form along with a low dose oral.
