It is kind of sad to me that this is such a real occurrence and yet rarely discussed.
There are many members on this forum that have experienced Telogen Effluvium from these 5-AR inhibitors, some of which have reported that it became chronic when they failed to discontinue the medication. This is of course including myself.
If you're experiencing Telogen Effluvium from androgen inhibitors, then you will always be playing catch up.
So... are there any experienced members on here that have recommendations for taking these medications with a less of a chance of getting Telogen Effluvium from them? Here are my thoughts -
Telogen Effluvium only occurs when there is a drastic physiological insult to the body. surgery, severe injury or illness, AND one of the inciting factors listed frequently is - HORMONAL CHANGES.
@Swoop and @Dench57 and @hellouser AND any of the more knowledgeable users on here -
do you think that microdosing finasteride or dutasteride MIGHT work to inhibit enough androgen activity in the scalp and ALSO prevent the likelihood of Telogen Effluvium, given that the physiological change is not as severe?
I realize there is no real answer to this, but I really want some opinions. Many may jump to the conclusion that they are losing massive amounts of hair on finasteride AND experiencing scalp inflammation because of AR upregulation... BUT, it could simply be Telogen Effluvium.
