finasteride or dutasteride

In general which is better and why?
In my case, diffuse all over top, maintaining well in back, maintaining ok in front, hairline getting a bit beat up, is better finasteride or dutasteride?
21 looking to maintain until 30, then willing to bic it. whats really good?
how long can finasteride and or dutasteride maintain your hair for? (in general)

With dutasteride you have a better chance of growing about more hair about 1.5x more but it's not FDA approved, costs more (unless you get a prescription) and there's a slightly higher chance of sides.

The most appropriate way to compare it to finasteride is to compare the two drugs versus placebo. By that standard, Avodart is about 22% more effective than Proscar.

proscar is 5mg and propecia is 1mg which is about 80% as effective as proscar. So 0.5mg dutasteride is close to 1.5x that of 1mg finasteride.

It would have been terrific if Glaxo had tested Propecia in addition to Proscar, but they didn't; so we should probably stick to what we know for sure.
