I took finesteride for 16 years with relatively good success. Definitely maintained my hair and now that I have hit my 43rd year, it appears to have runs it's course with no more contributory influence. I have officially stopped now for 6 months and losing more ground so quickly. It hit a point where my scalp received the intense itchy crawlies and mirrored reports that others that have discussed related to Hyper Reflex Andro.. I was a good responder form finasteride. Does anybody have any input on how I can stop this rapid miniaturization and shedding. I cannot take minoxidil. and not going the advodart route. Thanks

Why did you stop for 6 months? That was probably a bad idea regardless the perceived decline in efficiency. I know advodart seems intimidating, but if you had no sides on finasteride it may be worth a shot. Obviously that's up to you, good luck on the hair.

I can second that. I would not stop cold turkey like that.

I did, for 3 months, then jumped back on finasteride. I am on 2 years back on finasteride now, and my hair is better than ever was actually - by checking pictures.

I also added Nizoral 2x week. Minoxidil 5% 2x day, and dermaroller 0.5 once every 2 weeks.

I would recommend decreasing the dosage every few months, so you could give your body some time to adjust. Like going from 1mg -> .5mg -> .25mg etc..

Just because you started to lose ground it doesn't mean finasteride wasn't still slowing down your loss...

I was dealing with massive sexual sides within the last (3) years of taking it. I did decrease coming off the product incrementally. I was also dealing with intense brain fog. Six months out now... Sex drive is back, morning wood and my brain fog is gone. Any suggestions on the alternatives. Yes, believe me, It worked for 16 years and for three intense years, I did everything possible to not abandon my love/hate relationship that developed for 'finasteride. Counseling, date nights, traveling and tons of foreplay (cuz I could not get it up) @ br1 how long were you on Finasteride, cumulatively?

You could try topical finasteride from hasson and wong, im using it for quite a while and it slowed down my hair loss.

Did your brain fog also start during those 3 years?

Brain fog was most evident during those (3) years. I look at the ground that I am losing now and cannot help but look back and definitely say that I would do it all over again. When I started taking it, I thought for sure they would have been much further along within the process for a cure.
