10.5 month (2).jpg
Here's where I'm at currently. I've posted before earlier in this, but here's a basic timeline.

I've been on finasteride 1mg daily for 10.5 months.
After 2.5 months I noticed a big difference. Nearly no shedding beyond normal. So there was a lot more hair.
At 5 months, it was able to be styled fairly well, and I didn't have to use as much dermatch to make it look good.
At 7 months, even less dermatch, and at that point I could probably get away with not using nay in most cases.
now at 10.5 months, I don;t need dermatch. I may just paint the front hairs a bit, because they are still a little weak, ans the color is still somewhat faint in some of them. Even with that said, I really don't use any. The dermatch container is still nearly full, and I've had for 8 months or so.

One other note. I was on minoxidil for 2.5 years before starting finasteride. And it was O-K after about 5 or so months, little density effect, but after a few months later, it started to wane- similar to the studies suggested. by the time I got on finasteride, I was losing ground monthly. However it may have been holding onto whatever it could and slowing the process.....idk....I still take min, the foam kind, make it liquid with a hair dryer and apply it with a dropper. I just double the dose and use it once per day. It probably still does f*** all, but it has a nice thickening effect on my hair, and it still might be helping some of the hairs, and there might be a effect going on too with both medications. So I keep doing it.

Nice dude, your getting some great results. Glad to see. Remember you starting and thanks for documenting things well. Great consistent pics. You'll see benefits up to two years plus, and then Maintain for as long as you take it. Wish you the best and keep us updated.

Thanks man. I have pics virtually every month, but for simplicity I just went every few months in this post.

I think the front will take longer to thicken up. Its getting better every month, and is just grinding higher in density. I used to think I'd need a transplant at the hairline after a year on finasteride, but ive reconsidered for now.

Now im growing my hair out as long as I can, have been wanting to do this for years. Probably 20. Going to have witcher hair soon haha.

Yeah I remember, I think I actually commented that you'd get good results and could reconsider a hair transplant. You really seem to be a super responder and it goes to show that finasteride works better for slow diffusers. I think you may get back alot more in the next year. Congrats.

Did you go thru any sheds? Even small ones that you can recall? Did you notice any weak hairs being kicked in the process? Also in pics it appears your hairs gotten darker as well. Would you say that's true?

Yeah figured I'd get good results, I remember stating as much at the time too. Lots of thin hairs might thicken up, and stop falling out every 3 months. But an outright recession marching backward and causing a spot in the back is not going regrow dead follicles.

No sheds. In fact, like I said after two and a half months I noticed my hair was a lot more dense, even a bit before. You can see in the 3rd month photo, it was already a lot more dense. And that was just from hair not falling out at the rate it was, and normal regrowth was occurring.

Well, the pics have varying lighting. The bathroom lights were either at half mass, or changed to a different style bulb, etc. But, the really faint, light hairs that were dying, have gotten a lot darker, mainly in front. I have pics that look far worse, like this one, from before starting finasteride.

But I did shed the small hairs for quite some time. Probably not as a result of the finasteride, but just because they were so damaged and it took a cycle or two to get them stronger. Now if hair falls out, they fall out longer and are a bit more dense. Like I said slow grind.

Now in that pic, my hair was still somewhat wet from minoxidil so it looked a bit worse, but it was getting brutal.

Right on, it's expected that it takes several cycles to get the diameter and length back. Again congrats hope it keeps getting better.

unbelievable how some people see such an improvement and other for other people finasteride doest do sh*t.
It's the long term diffuse thinning. It gets a much higher yield. Even then I might be considered a top end case; probably between that top 1-5%.

I know this doesn’t matter I’m honestly just curious, what brand of finasteride are you taking, like the manufacturer?

Congrats on your success. Only more proof of what I have been saying all along. When you combine minoxidil with finasteride, you get better results then using each by themselves. Your case will be interesting to follow to see how long you can maintain. If I were in your shoes, I would be adding a Laser Cap to your mix. I know people think it's science fiction but I think it actually might give you some more thickening. I would never recommend using the Laser Cap as a stand alone treatment.

I never took finasteride by itself. Like I said before, I only keep with it because it MIGHT be doing something synergistic. Or it might not. Didn't have much effect by itself. Also because it makes my hair look thicker after it dries and I frizz it out. Like in that picture at the top.

I'm going to see how far finasteride takes me. Still a lot of time and progress it can make to the front hairline over the next couple of hair cycles. Why add in something when it may very well not bee needed. I wish I never started min and did finasteride first. I'm willing to bet it would've provided similar results. I might eventually ween myself off of it when I see the end of the line, maybe around another year or 15 months. If there's any bad affect, then I get back on.

Good results. Jump on Min and microneedling and you'll thicken that up.
I'm on mioxidil, but I'm not going to needle. Might do f*** all and I'm progressing great thus far, why add in more where it's probably not needed. Hell min might not be needed. I'll ween off that eventually n see what happens.

Your frontal third is still very thin so something is definitely needed. You've probably just about maxed out your finasteride/min gains by now. If you add needling you can extend those gains, if you discontinue minoxidil you will lose them. The two charts below illustrate this. P = placebo, and 1 = 1mg finasteride. Results with both drugs peak around one year.

very thin? Do you know what pictures the order are and the kind of lighting and minoxidil saturation my hair under in them? I mean I'm not on the thick hair level, but it's certainly decent at this point. Also, you have to look at hair cycles. It can take some time to thicken and have longer hair cycles in the most damaged areas. Up to 2 years. Or it can go nowhere. I'm of the mind that take as little as possible. Long term it's easier to sustain.
