Here's a pic of my friend who went from a thick Norwood 1 being 16/17 to a Norwood 6 by 20/21.

I don't want to show a pic from the front however believe me, he has only some peach fuzz left on top

It really was a dramatic change seeing him go through such an extreme transformation at such a fast rate. I'll try to find a before pic that shows how great his hair looked before.

EDIT: Here's the old pic, about 4 years before:

Yeah.. it sucks, typically those that are destined for NW6/7 lose it earlier and faster but that's just crazy extreme.

Damn thats rough. Did he take it well? I recently ran into this guy I graduated from high school with. I hadn't seen him since graduation, he was 17 or 18 and had a full head of hair. Now he's 26 and he is a smooth norwood 6, I was shocked but did my best to act like I didn't notice anything. I felt so bad for him, by the looks of it he must've been bald for a couple years already cause he didn't have a single hair on his head, :( . It made me feel so grateful for what I still have.

Well, his character is difficult to describe. He isn't the smartest guy and the target of many jokes (It's his own fault in most cases), so people made fun of his thinning hair too. He tried to make fun of it himself but I'm sure he had some hard time during the last 2 years or so.

Yep, I know a guy who went from a NW1 of curly blondish hair to a NW6 in basically a year and a half. It didn't receed as such, it basically diffused badly until he was left with a NW6. He can grow some tiny peach fuzz on top.

He's always been outgoing and jovial, he acts like it doesn't bother him.
He's also 5 foot 5, and he's overweight. Even though he is outgoing, funny and bright, his success with the ladies isn't magnificent. It isn't awful either though - he's had more girlfriends than I have. He makes the most of what he has. (he does have an excellent personality)

It does bother him, he has told me this much - but he will only get down about it for maybe a week before he'll get over it and get on with living his life.

Problem I have with it as such a young age - looking at that picture, it looks like a dude in his thirties. Do a Google Image Search for "22 years old" and see what comes up - the difference is staggering. No wonder young baldies have such a hard time with women our age. Why would one want a man who looks 15 years older than her?

That is fucked.

I think guys who lose it earlier are as said earlier destined to be a NW6/7, does his family suffer from aggressive male pattern baldness - and why didn't he get on meds? How did he lose, diffuse?

This guy had a perfect Norwood 0 hairline to start with. His father is bald, don't know about any other family members. He said he tried rogaine (as I asked him about it once when we were drunk) but not for long.

S*** man that's sucks :(

Will he consider any regimens, etc? If the hair went THAT fast, it could still be salvageable.. maybe o_O

The only one recovering from a Norwood 6 to a decent head of hair is GeminiX... but you can't compare that.

This thread sums up my granddad and uncle. They went from NW1 from 17, and he was a Norwood 5/6 around the age of 22 so 5 years. I'm terrified that'll happen to me, but they never tried the treatments so I am really hoping that the treatments are on my side. (plus my granddad used bryl cream everyday and the doctor said that is what caused it)

Poor guy though :(

Lol that was probably back in the days when smoking was good for you.

Bryl cream.. isn't that what you use to style your moustache?

That dude looks completely different even from those two relatively small pictures.
You can really see why some baldies can barely recognise themselves in the mirror.

I went from being young looking with a head full of long, straight dark hair (i was easily recognisable at least) to looking like a practically middle-aged businessman - I went from looking like I'd just left School to looking like I should have teenage children and a wife in the space of a few years.

Brylcream is an old fashioned styling product, popular back in the 50's.

Well I dunno I mean there are a LOT of tricks. He could probably still save it if he went NUTS on it lol The biggest problem I can see would be ensuring they're fully grown hairs and not just lil faint hairs ._.

I saw a guy at the gym who was probably 17 or 18 when he first started to go bald. Over the years I have seen him at various places and I would say he would go down the Norwood scale each year. I would say he is probably early 20's and I just saw him at the place I work and he is now about a NW5 or NW6. He is still skinny but most importantly he had a nice looking girlfriend. So all you guys that think you have to be buffed to compensate for your hair loss are wrong. He is confident and does not let his hair loss ruin his life. I doubt he ever used Propecia because I think he would have not lost his hair that fast. I just recently saw another person who is now 26 and had great hair about 5 or 6 years ago. I am pretty sure his dad has a full head of hair. He had to take off his hat and I was shocked to see a NW4 going on NW5 hiding under his cap. I think hair loss may have humbled him because he used to have kind of an attitude before but he seemed more pleasant now. I think the moral of the story here is most people who have aggressive male pattern baldness and will be destined to be a NW6 or NW7 usually experience most of their loss in their early 20's. So if you can make it to 30 with minor loss, you will most likely not experience aggressive hair loss especially if you take Propecia.
