Anyone get massive frown lines while on minoxidil? Iv'e been using minoxidil for 3 months and now it looks and feels like theres an actual depression on one side where frown lines go. I would expect normal frown lines to occur on both sides but I'm just getting one big one. I never noticed this before and this is as someone who would check their skin daily if it existed before i would of noticed. I'm only 23 so someone my age shouldn't have massive frown lines. I can only conclude that minoxidil may be responsible.

Well, I didn't get frown lines. But what I did get were several fine lines starting across my forehead. You could attribute it to me being 25, but they happened about 2 months after I started minoxidil, so I don't think it's an age thing. Luckily I'm a skin care junkie, so some retinol definitely helped me. I still use minoxidil, but now those fine lines are back in the past where they belong!

Well, the sooner you get working on it, the better. The microneedle will definitely help also. Good luck!

I've had frown lines since I was 16. In general I think genetics(including skin type)/sun damage/dry skin would be a more likely culprit than rogaine.

I never noticed them this much before, the bit above the right side of my nose is a dent now and as I run my finger up from it theres a crevease the whole way up that wasn't visable or noticable before but has become noticiable in the last 2 months, Again iv'e been on rogaine for 3 months and im only 23 and haven't hit my head at all or nothing so I strongly doubt its the skin receeding into a fracture, Can rogaine effect fat issue under the skin?

Well the method of action of minoxidil is still not fully understood. But I remember reading somewhere that minoxidil is believed to be a strong oxidant that inhibits collagen production in the skin. So it makes sense that anywhere your skin folds and creases on your face would create a lasting depression due to a lack of collagen, rather than fat.

Consequently, retinol is very bioavailable to the skin, and prompts it to produce collagen. So you, in theory could use it to reduce the side effects of minoxidil.

So minoxidil can make you fat due to water retention and make you wrinkly due to collagen inhibition. Water retention apparently causes collagen to stop regenerating, just drink more water, exercise and take a natural diuretic.

It's deep so i think i might need a filler or something. Ugh i hate this massive hairloss from shedding and a monster forehead. minoxidil may have been a mistake.

You can use retin-a and microneedle. If I get regrowth and the only side effect is water retention then it's acceptable, it's not ideal but what can we do.

Not sure a needle and retin-a will work on something this deep. I looked up how much retin-a is off prescription it's over 100 bucks for a good amount ffs do you know if you can get it on prescription for cheaper?

I use alpha hydrox retinol resQ. It's about $20 for a tube that lasts a couple months. It works really well.

its deeper just beside the eyebrow but i noticed the gap when i press down goes all the way up to the hairline so its where the forehead bones meet. Collegen must be decreased in there so the skin is falling in or something

Where are you applying the minoxidil? Do you remove it before going to sleep? It does go systematic but it's such a low amount that I don't think you should be getting such strong sides, your options would be to either lower the dose or apply the 2% version.

On the righthand side of my hairline which was fine before starting minoxidil where i should never have used it since i was only a thinish NW1. And on my crown which minoxidil has expanded the hell out of. This shedding sucks. I never use the gap to guide me on dosage but i don't think i apply that much and im always careful not to let it run down my forehead and generally have only been applying it once a day.

That's why I've always fought my hair loss with natural stuff. Using these products cause a lot of stress and anxiety, which can trigger faster hair loss.

Also got a bad reaction from minoxidil on the face, the cheeks got puffy and the eyelids were a bit stingy and puffy as well. Oh, well gave it a shot, didn't work. Time to order the retin-A.

Giving up now could mean those hairs are lost for good though I want regrowth! ugh. Iv'e been made aware of an extremely concerning study on finasteride which i linked on the general discussions forum which is currently stopping me from getting on propecia.

In my case I didn't shed so nothing was lost and even when people shed on minoxidil and give up they'll grow again but only after 3 to 6 months later.

eh but i still want to fight these damn genes if i can and without getting answers on that finasteride article i'm not ready to take it just yet so minoxidil is essentially my only option isn't it?
