Hi,

I am looking for advice. My hairline has significantly receded, and additionally, my entire top is gradually thinning.

That being said, my father is a Urologist, and I am really quite certain I don't want to even mess with the chance of Propecia's side-effects. I've seen what can happen, and it is not something I want to test fate with.

I am wondering if it is possible for me to get a hair transplant to frame the front of my face (i.e. rebuild mature hairline). I am reasonable-- I know I wont get a full head of hair back. Honestly, I don't care about the crown too much.

I am 22 years old, and while no crown might suck for a few years, by age 30 I believe many others will be the same place. I like short hair on myself, but I dont look good bald.

My question then, is, how possible is it for me to get grafts at the frontal half of my head, such that it recreates the hairline? I will leave the crown alone. I don't want to have to use Propecia or even Minoxidil (this one out of annoyance) after I get the hair transplant. I am not interested in Topicals either.

Is this possible?

For reference, my inspiration came after seeing a picture of Jay Pritchett from the show Modern Family. He has significant hair loss, but since he has hair up top, he still looks great.

Oh, and I am currently between an NW3 and NW4. I have a significantly receded hairline, and the hair on top in general is thinner than sides. A bald spot is slowly developing on my crown as well.

Hey Fred, I just saw your results. Wow. Great!

I wonder why more people don't consider this plan of action?

Regardless, Im curious what effect Minoxidil will have, since the transplanted hair are genetically programmed to stay, no?

That's a great idea, and that's exactly what I had done 3 weeks ago. Just follow the link in my signature.

I suggest you at least use minoxidil, you don't want to be too lazy here.

I started watching Modern Family a week ago and that's what I've been telling myself about Jay. People wouldn't even call him bald because of the framing he still got.

ed oniel is VERY bald.... always has been. Its just they show him as a successful rich guy with a HOT columbian wife so you dont think as much of it.

at 22 do you know where your head hair and donor hair line will eventually stop?
I have seen about 3 people in the past few months who look like they had hair transplant on top and then the donor parted leaving this wierd gap between.... god I hope that doesnt happen to me
