Hi, Just beginning to consider looking into FUE or other transplant... Im 44 with NW2+, diffuse thinning, some concern about donor site thickness... Mostly wanting to get a consult re: viability of improving temples and hairline/recession.

1) Is there a specific US hair transplant Doctor that you feel is considered outstanding/reliable for guiding decisions/ performing FUE or other transplant methods if needed? Commonly accepted as outstanding? West coast probably easier than midwest for me, but flexible.

2) What is the recovery? Is Buzzing head/donor area always required? (Have a job... kind of need to stay presentable... )

thanks for any guidance..
Will begin reading through these threads, but was hoping for a clear, simple answer : )

In the United States, for FUE, I would consider Feller, Ron Shapiro, or True and Dorin. If you are willing to travel to Canada, Rahal is the best for FUE. Right now Ron Shapiro is offering FUE with the new Artas FUE extractor with a huge discount. I was almost going to change my mind for that reason alone to go with Shapiro but I just find Rahal's hairlines more of what I want. I know True and Dorin can do a strip shave FUE. Basically you grow your donor hair out long and they shave thin sections to extract the grafts but then you can comb your hair over these small sections and it looks like nothing was done. The only down side is they can only do about 1000 grafts at a time. It might be just easier to just buzz it one time just so you can get more grafts. Check out the before and after photos to see what is your preference. If you go to Rahal's website look at his work, you will be shocked how natural his hairlines look. His crown work is just as good. I have been researching this for at least 5 years and if I did not go with Rahal, I think I would have gone with True and Dorin as my second choice for FUE. Any more questions, you can PM me.

Thank you, Ben and dr house, for the information... I'm certainly unhappy with my situation, and uncertain whether I even have donor site viability.... No way to know without a visit. Thanks
