I just noticed about four days ago how thin my hair was getting. I has gotten thin all over but most noticable in the front. I am not sure if it is due to stress, anxiety, hair damage or worse. There is no premature hair loss in the females in my family.

I started taking hair vitamins yesterday and I bought rogaine for women but I have had burning sensation on the top of my head since June 17, 2010 so I am afraid to use Rogaine if my scalp is irritated.

This is so scary and trying any relaxation techniques does not help because I always am thinking about my hair, am I balding, is it showing, etc.

Two years ago I died my hair purple and after that is when I noticed I had damaged my hair. Of course, I kept coloring it to hide gray hair. This last hair color was one I have always used and the burning on my scalp feels the same as when I colored my hair.

If I have the Telogen Effuvium this site recommended rogaine but when I read rogain instructions it said not to use on irritated scalp and not if the hair loss was all over, which my hair is thinner all over but mostly the top.

No insurance means no doctor so this is where I am today.

Hey..I don't think hair coloring could damage hair follicle located deep inside scalp, unless do it toooo often :) No doubt, Minoxidil(rogaine) is one of best ways to thicken thinning hairs, but you seem to be having trouble with propylene glycol(ppg) from rogaine. Give it a try with low % minoxidil with glycerin( ppg replaced by glycerin).
