<<<i take it that we are all obsessed to a degree about our baldness otherwise we would not be looking at this site when we could be living. maybe i am more obsesses than most. let me explain my few previous posts. i went on propecia about november 1, in a month i had stopped balding, than i had a shed from jan 1 that is still continuing. the shed has also started eating at my eyebrows, so i am putting some steriod on them and hopefully that will work. it seems as if everyday my hair gets less manageable so i shaved it off today and i look stupid, i have a widows peak, i do not recommend doing this if you have one also. so now i am going to grow back my hair but atleast this has been the first day i didn}t pick at my scalp or have my head itch. i am going to go on avodart and hopefully by the time i decide to grow my hair back it will take effect. I fear the shower and going bald is definitely limiting the things i like to do . it sucks , i wish it was different , but i think that some people on this site feel my pain

I think we all feel the pain and life changing affects of hair loss. It can be all consuming at times and yes.................very painful.

I know what you mean man. Sometimes I'll be studying and I won't be able to focus because all I can think about is my hair.

The only thing that seems to be able to completely block out any thoughts concerning hair is gambling. Luckily I just turned 18 this week and was able to legally hit up the casino. Unfortunetly I'm probably enganging in an even more unhealthy obsession now. :hairy:

Hair loss aside, you probably need to find a way to confront your depression. I've been where you are and probably a lot worse. I solved my problem with running. Not only does running cure depression, but it can drive down androgens by 65%, thus eliminating hair loss.

Jesus Freak.

Point in the direction of something credible that says running lowers androgens by 65%. I'll put my running shoes on right now. f*ck wait I don;t have running shoes. Oh well, guess I'll ust smoke another joint.

ThankYou Sir, I will look into it. I had actually heard that before or maybe I read that from regrowth.com before and forgot. So maybe I won't smoke that joint and run barefoot.

Interesting study but it wasn't specific enough to make me bust out the running shoes just yet. It mentioned various times that benefits are only realized if someone is involved in consistent intense aerobic training. That statement to me means that a person has to be actively jogging 5-10 miles 3-5 times a week. I think the only people that would achieve lower test levels would be ones that are vigorous in their workouts and even then who knows. I could never be that committed.

BTW: The guy didn't even site the university right. It's University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill not University of California. Doesn't inspire lots of confidence.

The thing that hurts me the most is when I look at my pictures from 3 years ago. I had so much hair
Oh BTW, hair loss owns me 24/7 :(

That's interesting and makes sense for me. Every time I start working out, my hair loss drops extremely low. I do the treadmill every night for 60-80 minutes at a high rate of speed now and my hairloss is very light.

I do recall a study that showed that marathoners had much lower T levels but that they actually suffered higher depression rates than the avg joe.

Long time ago however-- the study I mean.

No to mention that marathon runners still go bald. But the question is whether their lifestyle might have bought them some extra years with hair.

Yeah, I would also be interested in follow up studies. I can only speak for myself and my experiecne. I started losing my hair in clumps at age 19. There were no treatments back then, so I just started running 3 miles a day for my overall wellbeing. After 3 months my hair stopped falling out and started growning back. I've been running ever since. I'm 35 now and I still have a full head of hair.

I didn't run no 5-10 miles a day, and thats not what the article says.

Keep in mind that testosterone does not cause hair loss. Follicles that are sensitive to its by-product, DHT are what causes male pattern baldness. Lowering your test. levels will in all probability lower your mood, as low test. levels have been associated with depression. Even with lower levels of test. you will still have DHT to deal with. I do not think attempts at lowering test. are wise, however, I know the desperation that hair loss can cause and the subsequent experimental treatments that accompany that desperation. I still think early treatment with the best DHT blockers are the best options out there and (thanks to Bruce) I'm sold on topical copper peptides. I have not studied them enough to know exactly how they work but they sure seem to have greatly reduced my shedding. BTW, I have blonde hair and it hasn't turned green as some have reported with copper peptide use.
