Gym everyday?

At the moment I go to the gym every second day (4 times a week). When I go I do about 50 minutes of cardio and then 1 hour of weights, with one day of rest in between each gym session.

I really want to tone up and lose 10lbs before the summer, so I am thinking of going to the gym 6 (maybe 7) times a week now. But every second day would just be a 1 hour cardio session with no weights. Meaning I could cut down my cardio to 25minutes on the days I do weights

For example

Monday- 25mins cardio / 1hr weights
Tuesday - 1hr cardio
Wednesday - 25mins cardio / 1hr weights
Thursday - 1hr cardio
Friday - 25mins cardio / 1hr weights
Saturday - Rest (Maybe 1hr cardio)
Sunday - 25mins cardio / 1hr weights

Would this be ok to do, or would I be running my body into exhaustion?

dude i'd say you'd see results after the first week, then you'd start to go backwards as you would, as you said, be running your body into exhaustion which means it won't be at all efficient at either burning fat or building muscle (which is in essence what 'toning up' is).

You'd be more efficient to do just 30 minutes of cardio - after you do your weights and two sessions of 30 minutes (morning and evening) of cardio on non weight training days (although that is a lot still!)

Keep your diet clean and make sure you're not depleting calories too much. Carb up in the first half of the day and taper it back as the day goes on, cos all that exercise is going to deplete your glycogen stores a lot which will leave you with no energy, headaches and depressed metabolism.

Try looking on sites like bodybuilding.com too for some tips to lose weight in terms of diet etc.

Too much cardio IMO. If your diet is under control, your fat loss plan in the gym should look something like this:

Monday: Weight training (No more than 1hour)
Tuesday: Cardio (No more than 30 minutes of intense training)
Wednesday: Weight training (No more than 1hour)
Thursday: Cardio (No more than 30 minutes of intense training)
Friday: Weight training (No more than 1hour)

If you overtrain with the cardio, like made_guy said, you will become severely catabolic and your body will begin to metabolize it's muscle which is counterproductive to your ultimate goal.
