I am 26 and first noticed a thinning just above the hairline over the left temple about a year ago. I understand finasteride does not work in this area? I dont cureently have any other thinning that I am aware of other than that. Should I get on finasteride asap anyhow as this is just the beginning? what treatments are most effective for this area, minoxidil aside?

1 mg Finasteride DAILY

1% Nizoral TWICE OR THRICE WEEKLY

Wait for a year. This regimen may thicken up your hairline and help reduce the pretty obvious horse shoe pattern developing on your head.

Propecia does not claim to work for receeding hair lines because it wasnt tested there.

But its certainly helpful although the hardest part of the head to fight male pattern baldness is the frontal hairline.

OUCH a pretty obvious horse shoe pattern... I never associated "obvious"with my hairloss before. Note that this was taken with a camera flash and the sides appear darker than the top, although they are the same in density. I have always had naturally "fine" hair as well. Heres another pic from the top. Thanks for your input.

finasteride would be perfect for you, it does thicken up the temples as well, just sometimes takes longer and doesn't regrow hair where it is slick bald. I would hold off on the minoxidil, its a pain, and propecia might be good all by itself for you.

Well sorry if you got offended if i said a "pretty obvious" horse shoe pattern on your head.

But the people on this forum have highly trained eyes in identifying Norwoods, receeding hairlines, diffuse thinning and horse shoe patterns.

You do have thinning in the horse shoe region.

Start treatment of Finasteride and Nizoral now, else within a year the "pretty obvious" horse shoe pattern to me will be "pretty obvious" to people without male pattern baldness.
