Hair Thick At The Root And Thin At The Tip- Less Than An Inch Long

I'm definitely balding, but lately I've noticed something odd about my hair- some strands appear miniaturized at the tip but thicken dramatically at the root when plucked. It's easy to distinguish these from hairs that are 'normally' miniaturized, as they are the same thickness throughout. What's going on?

If the hair is thick at the root then its a healthy hair. Sometimes hair strands can vary in thickness from tip to root and still be non balding. Its the ones which are thin at the roots that you should look out for
