hi,

my hairloss seems to be causing almost entirely thining of my hair, and almost no receding. my hairline, as far as i can tell, doesn't seem to be diffrent from how it was a few years ago (judging by the pictures i could find). but my i am shedding hairs, and although my hair looks fine most of the time - if i stand directly under a light, it looks pretty thin on top. also, despite using ketozol shampoo for the 6 months (twice weekly) i still have a lot of dandruff and itching.

my question is - is this a normal form of male pattern baldness? because everywhere i look people go by the Norwood scale, which is measured basically by how far the hairline has receeded.

are other people expriencing this type of male pattern baldness? is there a specific treatment that is more effective in this case?

also, is it normal to still have dandruff and itching when using ketozol shampoo?

i would really appreciate any help and answers

Finasteride & Minoxidil are supposed to be very good at helping diffuse thinning, especially in young men who still have good coverage like yours.

I think the general recommendation is this:

Use finasteride for 6-12 months. If you still want more effects, then add minoxidil. Use Nizoral shampoo 2-3 times a week (starting now) and let it soak into your scalp for 5 minutes or so. It will probably dry your hair up like crazy. (It makes my #4 buzzcut look like an afro...and I have fine, blonde hair).

I've only lost some hair at my crown, about 30% reduction in density I'd guess, in a 1/5" radius. Got my mature hairline over 10 years ago and had no changes until about 2 years ago. Still have no frontal balding - which is encouraging b/c frontal is supposed to be the most difficult to treat.

Check out my pics in my signature, I think I'm in the same boat as you, I'm going to try Nizoral and Fluridil before finasteride/Min.

Ketaconazole is an "antidandruff" shampoo because it's an antifungal drug. There are many different types of antifungals out there and they all have varying effects on dandruff. If one is not working for you, try another (coal tar, selenium, athlete's foot cream, feminine yeast infection cream).

It seems I'm facing the same issue, how's your situation now? Any recommended treatment?

Thank you.
