Hi

I'm 20 years old with a solid NW2 right now. Good density everywhere but definitely some temple recession. I'm on finasteride and min right now and plan to continue using them indefinitely (no sides from finasteride in the 4 months I've been on). I know people say not to get a hair transplant before like 26 or something, but is it really that bad if I have a small procedure and get around 1000 grafts (or less idk how many I would need) to fill in my hairline and get it back to a NW1? I'm hoping finasteride will stabilize my hair and if not then I am willing to change to dutasteride when the time comes. Also if all goes to sh*t and the rest of my hair falls out can't I just have laser hair removal to get rid of the transplanted hair? Am I acting too impulsively or is this a reasonable thought process?

Definitely don't get a transplant. The earliest you should ever be considering one is 25, ideally 30. The longer you wait the more leverage you will have over your transplant.

I’ve spoke to a few laser hair removal clinics and they have told me that they can laser transplanted hair. I would like to see results of this.

Any surgeon that would do a transplant on someone your age is a crook! You have no idea of how far it will go. Genetics is only an indication. You need to wait and see. You have other options. At NW2 a different hairstyle could make a world of difference. There are also drugs (oral and topical) that you should probably try, first.
