 OK so I just had an hair transplant 16 days ago and thinking that all the scabs had fallen off my head I decided to brush my hair. So I went to go brush it and huge scab, about 4cms wide fell off my head.. So why am I complaining? The scab had about 70 transplanted hairs in it!!!! Will these hairs grow back? It has been 16 days after my hair transplant after all.. Thanks.

Got some good news for ya buddy. I am 99.99% certain that you are safe. After 8 to 10 days (maybe less) those implanted grafts are set. What you pulled out was the hairs that are attached to that follicle and they were most likely going to fall out in a few weeks anyway. I am confidant that you are fine.

Now sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. The next couple of months are kinda tough. You'll be going through the "ugly duckling" stage and wonder "Is this working?" By month 5 you will be watching the little guys sprout. After that, its all uphill and rainbow skies.

Happy Growing!

I have been thinking all day today about how dumb I was for brushing so soon. I hope you are right! Thanks for the reply.

I've read that as long as there wasn't bleeding the follicles should be ok. Was there alot of bleeding?

Boy, that must have been a BIG scab!!

Nope, there wasn't any bleeding and yea the scab was pretty big.. Currently I am 1 month and 11 days post op and where that scab that fell off has created a little bald spot. However, you can also see in the bald spot little indents where it looks like hair should be.. So I am hopeing the hair grows back..

I see. Well, let's cross our fingers and hope your indents still have the follicles in them. My guess is they are still in there.

DON"T PICK AT THE SCABS! bad idea! that's the first thing the doctors told me. the hair you seen in the scab are falling out anyway, & then they go into a resting phase & will start growing in about 3 months. the hair bulbs are still deep in your scalp. i remember after my first procedure i was terrified by this, but it's a normal condition so don't worry about it. just let the scabs fall out when they do. be careful how you brush your hair. don't drag the brush over your scalp. you can endanger your transplants & seeing how expensive it is to have the work done, why take the chance?
