Hairline has been receding majorly for the past three months on finasteride and need advice (photos included)

Hey all, I’ve been taking finasteride 1mg/day for the past three months and my hairline has receded by an utterly insane amount. I’ve also had major diffuse thinning but I’m more concerned about the recession. I went from Norwood 1.something to at least a NW2 if not more. And I’m not seeing any regrowth. However, this is not my first time taking finasteride. Here is my full journey:

I’m almost 23 years old and started losing my hair in my teens. Around 19 I started taking finasteride and had huge gains for the next 1 1/2 to 2 years. Around that point I also started applying minoxidil to my face, which I believe caused my head hair to shed. I used minoxidil for about 6 months before deciding to finally quit. I continued taking finasteride, and my thinning leveled off after a few months but I never regained the density I used to have. Once I hit the three year mark on finasteride I started experiencing ED and decided to take a break. This break also lasted about six months as well, and while I experienced some recession and diffuse thinning it was actually quite minor in retrospect. Fast forward to today, I wake up with a noticeably bigger forehead everyday. I’ve never experienced recession this fast. It’s causing me a lot of pain and stress.

My question is could this be part of the shedding and regrowth process? Or is this shock loss caused by finasteride that won’t regrow? TIA.

Looks like your genetics has catched up and finasteride is no longer effective for you. I also get sexual sides on oral finasteride. But its abit better after I switched to topical finasteride with min. I used duta oral for 1.5 years more than a year ago and I just kept thinning and faster than normal so I quit it. After quitting my hair actually thinned aloooot slower believe it or not. I suspect it probably was due to the increase in T from dutasteride or I got hormonal imbalance. But Im doing better on finasteride right now especially topically applied. RIP your hair.
