I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to these two doctors...
Ron Shapiro (MN) and John Cole (ATL, GA)

I wondered if you guys had any final thoughts for me!
thank you in advance!

Obviously you have considered surgical talent but I think maybe the ethical factor will help you on your final decision.

I prefer not to assume you have done all research possible

You should look into the worse stories you have read or heard about and make notes and ask the doctor---asll possible bad things. If these doctors have flashy offices and a hot "advisor", beware.

I also read that if you do have some hair still left on your head, these may fall due to the schock of the procedure and are not guaranteed to grow back

Why have you narrowed to these 2 doctors?

I have heard this also: dont expect results with your hair looking lile when you were 15. Have modest expectations. This aint no boob job.

thanks guys, I've narrowed it down to Cole or Shapiro simply from the forums. I've honestly heard nothing bad about either one. Shapiro, never one negative comment (am I missing something?).

Anyway, the reason is - most of my work needed to be done on the hairline although I'm definitely seeking a moderate density upgrade on the top. I hear Shapiro and Cole are great for hairlines. I considered Armani as well, but I didn't really like the quote for the amount of work being done.

I don't want a overly conservative approach to my hairline -- I don't think a young man's hairline is a think to ashamed of when i get to be 50 or 60.

I hear Cole and Shapiro are 5 stars in the ethics department... so how do i narrow it down! :)

have you met either of them in person?

I think that is huge.

I visited one in town who is supposed to be a specialist. I ended up talking 45 minutes to the shapely saleswoman and 5 minutes to the doctor who was completely gay and arrogant and spent less than 5 minutes with me. So I had the saleslady who is not a doctor telling me whats good for me........?

Didnt feel comfortable. Im not antigay, and of course it has nothing to do with his skills. But I do believe in being comfortable with your doctor that is very upfront about results

I think you need to ask the question if your doctors have been sued. I asked the question to the sales lady at that same visit and she made some joke in which her body language revealed YES we have been sued

No you are not wrong. Anyone who has been around for any period of time in the hairloss community knows you are choosing between two of the top talented hair transplant docs worldwide.

And some of what was said in the other posts are good points regarding shockloss and knowing both the plus and minuses to hair transplant surgery. How much research in the procedure itself have you done? The point being you just want to know everything you can before you go into anyone's OR.

Now it's true that you won't find anything bad about Dr. Shapiro's reputation but there's two other forums you should look into which are HairTransplantNetwork.com and Hairsite.com and do this. Do key word searches on both docs names you are considering and start reading more posts.

Read enough of them.

I'll get reading ASAP, I've put in about 3 years of research (on and off). I am only Norwood 2 however. again, it's the hairline mostly.

thank you!
