Has Anyone Had To Wait More Than A Year To See Improvement?

I've been on finasteride for 10 months. From month 3-7, I would say there was a slight improvement and I was only shedding 1-4 hours in the shower. From the 8th month to till now, I have started an insane shed of 80-100 hairs a day. I used to be able to do a decent sidepart to cover thinning area on the top, but now my whole scalp has thinned out. I can no longer hide thinning. I hear this is common, and these sheds are only supposed to last around 6 weeks. But I'm still shedding a ton into the 10th month, when this was supposed to have stopped. It's been about 3 months of constant intense shedding. Is real improvement supposed to happen after the 1 year mark?

finasteride inhibits DHT, but increases TST, TST kills hair, androgens kill hair, estrogens grow hair. You need to quit finasteride, this will not help your hair. Take CPA and estradiol

Take it yourself. That is to far for just growing hair.

finasteride increases testosterone by 5-10% i think and dutasteride does by 10-15

but the changes are still within normal physiological range

finasteride has more variability in response. It's peak response is a reduction of 70% DHT. so you may not be getting the full benefit.

dutasteride has way less variability. It will reduce DHT by 90% for most people.

I was on finasteride for 4 years. I switched to dutasteride roughly 5 months ago.

Last summer I began to lose my temporal peaks. Rapidly. Within months I had lost so much hair. Now, nearly a year later, I've lost about 1 cm off my temples on both sides.

But no one in my family manages to keep their temporal peaks - which are apparently under genetic control independent of male pattern baldness.

So far I haven't noticed any positive changes with dutasteride, but I'm sticking with it until I hit 1.5 years to assess things.
