I'm at my wit's end.
I have been using finasteride (1 and later 1.25mg) since the last week of January 2012.
I am a Nw2, just about, but a VERY thin Nw2 with a 'solar panel' on top. My crown area is see-through, but anything 'south' of the crown, the vertex, is actually pretty much native density. I wear a hat at all times and in all weather in public, and I cannot face being seen from the back or the top (on buses, etc, and generally as I am 5 foot 2) and having people see a balded area.
In November 2012 I was diagnosed with male pattern baldness and Telogen Effluvium by a private dermatologist. I doubt the Telogen Effluvium as it has NEVER reversed, even slightly, and I take regular photos. I will see another private specialist next time I need a top-up Din prescription, as I feel the secondary diagnosis gave me false hope and made me far iller.
I have used Nizoral twice a week since before starting finasteride. I tried Regaine foam out of desperation for 4 days, but stopped as I had side effects and didn't want to age my face.
So I need hope - has anyone had to wait to the 18 month mark or later to see ANY visible improvement with Finasteride? I may be getting maintenance, and my shedding and itching pre-finasteride have completely vanished, but I can't cope with every day seeing hair so thin and decimated.
