Browsing through hair loss forums it seems anyone who has a change in color during balding notices it has lightened. Has anyone had the opposite occur? Since I graduated from high school my hair, which was once medium brown, has transformed into a dark brown/black appearance. It's enough to where I can almost always guarantee that people who haven't seen me since high school ask whether I've dyed my hair. Also, I haven't thinned much since graduating from high school, although there's always the threat I will.

It's strange because my dad followed a similar course of hair color change. We both had blond hair as children, then medium brown through high school. The difference is my dad never had his hair turn as dark as mine has. He is bald, and has been since his early 30s. I've thinned a bit since high school, basically to a NW2.

I'd like to believe my mom (who had jet black hair in her youth) is somehow influencing this, although I doubt that. Of course it'd make sense I would fail to receive the hair gene from my mom's side, who had three brothers (all full heads of hair in their 40s) and a father (before he died at 70) with a NW1.

Has anyone else encountered this hair darkening change?
