No real clear answers on the forum....plain and simple...do you use it and has it *at least* slowed down your excessive shedding?

I've been using it for around 9 months and am thinning still. Lose about 30-40 hairs in shower everyday. Hair feels thin, unless its thinning in order to get better, but its month 9....

I'm going to month 12 and if it still looks worse than before... or noticeable that im thinning then it obviously hasn't helped me maintain, I've been taking 0.25mg propecia also and using nano shampoo for 1.5 months.

Viper, I have used Revivogen in the past without Propecia and Rogaine and it helped thicken my hair. I still use it now. My advice is don't bother with it if you are at a NW2 level. I feel it only works best for minor diffuse thinning that is approaching a NW2. Its funny how Revivogen has been around for many years but only recently have I noticed more people curious about it ever since that new study came out. I find it very interesting how ONE study can make everyone want a certain product. I would rather go by the success of the people on these forums but its hard to know who is full of it or not. I am not one of them. I will tell you if something works or not because I have a huge reject pile. The only products I have any faith in without studies is Proctor's products. The guy has spent his whole career studying hair loss and pharmacology. I would think his products would reflect all his hard work. I realize now I would have enjoyed a career in researching treatments for hair loss. However, I was not great in organic chemistry or physics. I am better at diagnosing problems.

Thanks Doctor - your posts are always enlightening! So is there any reason you are still on Revivogen if it hasn't done much? I have a sensitive scalp like yours - does revivogen serum cause major irritations or scalp issues? I have little temple recessions but my whole crown is thinning diffusely. Propecia did not work for me at all and currently I am on ProxN (morning), minoxidil (evening) CP's 4-5 times a week, and nizoral 2 percent 3 times a week. I kind of need some form of DHT inhibitor....recently quit spironolactone and AA as they didn't seem to be doing much. By the way how much do you shed daily Doctor? Did any one these products reduce your sheds?

Viper, thanks for the complement. I still use Revivogen because it definitely helps thicken the hairs and I think the oils help keep the hair from drying out. My shedding has decreased alot since I cut down on minoxidil. I would say I shed less than 50 hairs a day( that I am aware of). I have never shed more than between 50 to 75 hairs even when I had my major sheds. I have never had any irritation or redness with the Revivogen serum. I only use it at night. I have to say minoxidil definitely causes the most shedding for me. I don't have any crown problems. I just have a very small area at the center of my hairline that goes back about two or three inches that is diffuse. I think alot of "experts" on here would say that is part of my natural center part. However it used to be thicker there before I started with Propecia. Viper, do you think it is anywhere possible Propecia or minoxidil could thin out your hairline to a point that it does not come back as thick?

Revivogen stopped my hairloss too...
I have thicker hairs and no hairloss (except some hairs i lose when i wash or apply revivogen).
Maybe Revivogen should have more regrowth power if someone combine it with rogaine

Hi Doctor,

Yes I have always wondered if minoxidil increases shedding......when I wash my hair in the morning and apply ProxN my loss is very steady most of the day - lose 70-80 hair that I notice. However as soon as I apply minoxidil in the evening , my scalp starts to itch and hurt and the next morning my entire shirt, pillow and head are covered with dead hair. I don't know why this happens ...maybe minoxidil speeds up the hair cycle. One thing is for sure I will never go for a higher concentration of minoxidil like 12 or 15 percent. As for finasteride I have no doubt at all that it destroyed my temples and crown during the one year i used it. I feel the reason was that my hair is oversensitive to Testosterone and the elevation in Test from finasteride caused me to loose a lot of density. finasteride and minoxidil are a hit or miss - I usually get flamed when I call them lousy treatments , but at least for me that's just what they are. To be honest the thing that works best for me is emu oil. Makes my scalp feel nice and healthy, but can't claim it has led to any growth. I really hope something solid comes along in the next 5-10 years, I am getting really desperate :)

Ive been using it for almost 3 months (missed days here and there) and it has worked well

Initial shed sucked but my hair looks much better than it did before. Im a diffuse thinner and Im hoping I get most of what I lost back after 1 yrs use

I give it two thumbs up!

Than you should change your "My regimen"-section.

My experience with Revivogen wasn't that good... So far. AFter stopping propecia and starting Revivogen i had a major shed for 3 months, might have been a mix of alopecia and Telogen Effluvium. However, after 3 months i thought my shedding had stopped, but my hair was on it's worst state ever. Thin, lifeless and strawy. I took pics and they showed the proof, my hair was much worse than half a year ago.

However, it's been 4 1/2 months for me now. I don't think that my shedding has reduced that much. My hair still feels like sh*t.

Here is my hair back in december

Propecia has maintained what i had and hair looked good. After quitting in march, i noticed a strong shed. (I quit propecia due to gynecomastia on my left breast and other side effects)

(July 2008)

This is after 3 1/2 months on Revivogen. (My hairline is even a bit worse than seen here)

I know angle/lightning are different, however i took several pics and all showed major worsening. It's funny, i was so glad that i caught my hairloss early and propecia seemed to work. However, i couldn't stand the side effects. 2008 has been a horrible year for me so far.

i have been taking it for 4-5 months. To be honest i didnt use it once on holiday for two weeks, probably not the best idea but now I wont miss an application!

I too used spironolactone before but the smell of it is terrible and doesnt even go with showering.

I have also been on propecia up until June 06, but stopped due it being far too risky with its side effects. It will cause major problems in some individuals. Merck are not obliged to carry out extensive safety tests I have learnt and therefore they dont. I find this very very strange!

I am not sure whether revivogen is having an effect as of yet, as I have been losing alot of hair constantly for 2 years now. And i mean ALOT of hairs, definately more than has been mentioned in this thread.

Make sure you rub the Revivogen into your scalp for at least 15 seconds

Didn't help me (used for more than a year in combo w/ spironolactone 2%) - but some guys have had good results.

Between Rev's mess and expense though - I'm more apt to recommend Joe's Super Zix over Rev if someone is considering using Rev. Zix actually worked better for me.

I'm the one who's gonna switch to zix soon. How has it been working for you in comparison to Revivogen? Still using it?

I think revivogen helped me for maintenance. I've been using it for 6 months (still on propecia). Last summer while I was just on propecia for more than a year, I had still many hairs on the pillow. I remember it clearly cause I was staying at my aunts and she was doing my bed and told me to do something about it and I remember thinking that I was already doing something, ie: propecia. (fascinating story, eh?). Anyway, there are no more hairs on my pillows. Unless theres another reason for this, I guess revivogen is helping for maintenance. I'm still hoping for more regrowth tho.

Hey tell me have u had better results with regular Zix or Super Zix (1 or 2?).

Because I'm on Super Zix II right now and it just makes my hair fall out bad wherever I put it... Long thicks hairs fall out in spots where I normally should not bald at all fall out where I put the Super Zix.

I started out w/ zix and then slid into one of the earliest versions of super (no shed or negative side effects for me).

I've heard many shed stories on zix. I think some guys just can't handle the zinc content.

Drop Joe Zix an e-mail and let him know what's going on. I'm pretty sure he has a fall-back position to recommend for guys in your situation.

what is the fall back position? What should someone using Superzix 2 who experiences a shed/more hair loss reduce in the SuperZIX 2 mixture??? Less Zinc??

I'm pretty sure that's why he told you to e-mail Joe. Though all Joe is going to tell you is that Zix wouldn't do that unless you're allergic to something in the formula and to stop for a few weeks just to make sure it's actually Zix.
