The worst part about losing your hair isn't the changing reflection you start to see in the mirror.
It is what you start to see in the world. Accepting yourself is easy, but being accepted is not.
Modern media is vain and superficial, and as a result so are many media-centered people.
When you lose your first layer of beauty, your street credit, sex appeal and quality of interactions change. Not because you are different, but because you no longer advertise the accepted appearance.
If you are attractive (or rich) by the world's standards, you can likely expect to have it easy... but dare to be poor or ugly and you are discriminated against and devalued as less than the norm.
