HI, i'm getting really parnoid about my hair, I'm currently 22 with no history of male pattern baldness in my family and on top of this haven't been eating properly for 10 months which might be something to do with iron but what's going on with my hair?

Moderate recession. Likely male pattern baldness.

You can get blood work done to confirm but in the western world you should not be significantly deficient that it effects your hair, even with what you would consider a poor diet. Also defficiences usually have global impact on hair including body hair and eyebrows.

You can see a dermatologist for a more formal diagnosis but I would consider looking into the big 3.

I agree with doyle. Only reason why I mentioned blodwork was just to be safe but there's like a 95% chance of it being male pattern baldness rather than deficiences. best of luck either way.

Y'all know that the most common vitamin/mineral deficiency that causes hairloss is vit.D and that it's literally impossible to get enough of it through diet alone? Just an FYI.

Agreed that it's most like just male pattern baldness as is it in 99.9% of cases.

Also, miniturisation is apparent on the temples.

Asuming you're not living underground you should get ample from the sun. Many people in the winter are probably running 'low' on vitamin D but not to the level that it will impact hair or will likely have a negligible impact on health.

I think defficiences are thrown around too much in regards to hair. Probably less than .1%of cases are due to actual decreased intake of x or y and you would notice other problems than hair loss alone.

I found out I was vit.D deficient yesterday but I live in England where it's estimated 50% of adults are... but yeah, like you said, it wouldn't be so low it affected hair.
