How Does My Hairline Look? Very Anxious.

I'm not sure if I'm just stressing over nothing (I made a post a few months ago about my crown which turned out to be nothing) but lately i've been stressing about how my hair looks when I push it back. My hair is naturally fine and very dark, which is obviously a recipe for seeing my scalp through my hair, I haven't got any photos from before but does this look normal to you guys? I'm 22 and either way I'm scheduling an appointment with a derm ASAP. My hair is unwashed here and a bit stressed.

* these photos are under the harshest light possible in my apartment*
* also the issue isn't with my tempel region, the photos may appear like there is some recession there but there isn't, its just the way i pushed it back, my main concern is whether or not the front of the hairline looks thin*

Early stages of baldness.

Temples, and along the hairline are started to miniaturize and form a form of male pattern baldness.

Time to start taking finasteride.

Shookwun is right man, one side of your hairline is thinner than the other.

If you want my opinion, if you're not sure if you're balding. Keep taking the same photo every month in the same exact lighting and assess for 6-12 months. Once that is done you should consider treatment.

See what your derm says, but if you do have male pattern baldness you are catching it at a really good time

I didn't realize I had it until my hairline was much worse than yours. If you take action now you'll likely be one of the fortunate ones, still rocking a full head of hair in 5-10 years when multiple peers of the same age are exihbiting noticeable levels of hairloss

@ColeH If you have family history--basically any of your 4 grandparents or 2 parents with hair loss--then go to a dermatologist tell them your family history and ask them to use the hand held tool (can't think of the name of it) to check scalp for miniaturization or signs of MPHL--OR go to a a hair surgeon who also treats medically (gives prescriptions) they definitely have those devices. I don't know if all dermatologists have them.

Honestly none of us are going to 'know' its best you let them look at it microscopically.

It does not look like anything to 'me'.

But i know when i had insanely dense hair and in my early 30s it felt 'lighter' and everyone told me i was nuts.

Its 15 years later and i just had a biopsy and its androgenic early stage...

Im a woman so i am not comparing i think in women it moves very very slowly compared to most men.

But my point is you know your hair better than anyone else--and if you have some concerns and yo have family history its best to get it checked out.. 22nd is not that far off.

IF you have this do not panic you are at the starting line.

And not a better time in history to get Androgenetic Alopecia then now so many things available and will be available in next 2-5 years.

I don't think your hairloss can be defined anyhow aggressive, if it is male pattern baldness at all.
You need a derm to make a trychogram or even a biopsy to know more.
Pictures can be deceiving if you do not have the before / after. What was it like last year?

I've been concerned about losing my hair ever since I was a teenager. My father's side has a history of baldness while my Mother's side has 0 history. I don't see much change in my hair since last year, the last time I got it cut my stylist thinned out the front a bit and I think thats why I started to be come so paranoid about this. In all honestly the photos are taken under direct light and I know it looks a lot worse in them than in real life, I will find an old photos and repost. I'm also going to upload a video and link because i think videos are a much better indicator.

It's all in the miniaturization.

The temple hairs, followed by the hairline is starting to have those DHT-thinned follicles. Eventually they become c*** hairs, then whither away with the wind!

Also, you can see the pattern formation at your temple points/angle closure.

Notice how the pigmentation is becoming much finer, and weaker in color, followed by density.

take my advice, and get on finasteride. In a good position where you can recover all lost ground. Your loss is so minimal, its not even noticible to those that are suffering themselves, unless you have a PHD in norwood spotting like myself.

Okay so here's my reply. I apologize in advance for how much I'm throwing at you guys here, just trying to ease my nerves.

Here are two videos I took, one is of me with wet hair the other is of me with dry hair. I fear the lighting of the photos didnt do my condition justice.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_bBsFsIKQ3cVEFlTHVzNWhpQjA/view?usp=sharing (wet)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_bBsFsIKQ3cT0d0a09CRkUwQTQ/view?usp=sharing (dry)

here's a photo from me a year ago, i know it doesn't do much but its all i have (i dont wear my hair up)

thank you guys so much for responding, i'm sorry im being so hesitant to accept this. i read a lot about finasteride and im scared off of it, do you think it will work for me if i did go to a derm and it was determined i needed it?

Any chance that this is just the way I've pulled my hair back? I asked my hair dresser about this before (i know she isn't super qualified) but she said it was just the way my hair grows. Also what is your experience with finasteride? will it help for temporal loss?

Man you got some really nice hair... If you are indeed balding then I would hop on meds to maintain.

You have really good density and hair diameter. But you are receding. My advice, it's a good time to start finasteride. The sooner the better.

Hair dressers dont know there thumb from there ***. they are bluepill, and know nothing of hair loss.

It's balding, and take what I say for granted.

I have warned you. It's 100% miniturzation and finasteride will maintain your hair from here out.

Still at the early stages of M-shaped baldness at the front, same as what I experienced. Still has room for preventive treatment.

IMO you have very minor hair loss, however Finasteride would probably work wonders on you.

He comes here asking how his hairline looks, then when people tell him it's the early signs of balding and to get on finasteride, he asks where the recession is and asks if it's the way his hair was pulled back. Classic.
