how long does it take grafts to start growing out?

It's 4.5 months post op, and none of the hairs in my hair line or behind it have grown out.

The hairs in my temple have. And after my last procedure, 1/4 were growing by 2.5 months and 75% by 5 months. At 4.5 months and no growth, I'm really starting to get scared.

well, I do have four hairs below my hair line that have grown out. They are 1/4 inch lower than it, marking how far the grafts came down. They are already 1/2 inch long.

Its possible that they could still come through soon. Did you do your research before choosing your surgeon? Who did you get it done by?

It's still way to early to panic. Sometimes grafts dont pop up for 6-12 months, I have even heard up to 18 months.

I got them done by a good Doctor. I'm just worried my grapeseed extract might have done something. None of my ingredients are much different from what is in minoxidil, but could using 5mL of minoxidil per application instead of 1mL hurt the grafts?

Dr Keene told me to come in so she could have a look. She says they should be growing out by now. She says she may be able to figure out why they did not grow just by looking at them. I hope they do grow out eventually, since I have limited donor hair since I started at NW3. I also wish I did not have to wait as long. I ask her about grapeseed extract and apple poly and copper peptides and see if she thinks any of those hurt the grafts. I did start them a few months after the procedure.

Or maybe the isopropyl alcohol in the Eucapil did it?

CCS,

I really sense that you are doing overkill, no offense. All of the products you are using are not necessary to re-grow your hair transplant. Sure they can help jump start and facilitate the growth, but to what extent? Where are the clinical findings?

If I were you, I would just stick with the minoxidil and MSM. That's more than enough because although we may try and speed things up, there is really little if anything we can do to affect the follicle cycling process. You are just probably blooming a little late.

Hang in there man, it's coming. :hairy:

CCS,

It's been 4 months minus 4 days, and I see very few transplants coming out. I used very little topicals since getting hair transplants.

And gillenator, it would be my guess that CCS uses the topicals to grow new hair, not to speed up his transplants.

wow that would really suck if they didn't grow out. you are Norwood 1.5 right? Will you be a Norwood 1 if your grafts go out? How many grafts do you have left to harvest from your donor area?

My center hairline is about NW1, though of course some guys are lower than me in the center. My corners are about 4mm too high. My left temple needs to be brought forwards 1cm. I think I need about 1000 grafts to do that at full density. Most guys can donate 4000-8000 grafts. So if I can do 6000, that means I have 2000 left. So I should be fine, if these ones grow out. There were 1300 of them, and about 50 have surfaced. I'm just scared because last time 1/3 were out by 2.5 months, and 70% were out at 6 months. I don't know what I'd do if these don't grow out. My Doctor has a great reputation, so I'd be affraid to get another hair transplant anywhere. She asked me to come in so she can see, but I think I should just wait it out and hope they grow. Even if I got another one a year post op, I'd be affraid of killing grafts that might grow out later. I guess 4.5 months is not too bad. I was just hoping to be thick in front by now. I look hairy in bright indoors light, but in bright sun light the hair disapears in my reflection. I think the grafts will change that.

What are you going to do when your obviously strong male pattern baldness genes(I mean NW3 in early twenties is pretty strong) overpower the medication and take you back to NW3-4 in your fifties? what if HM never comes out?

i mean you'll have like 1000 grafts left over after your next hair transplant, and that won't be enough to get you back to even NW2 if you recede further. might you want to conserve those? just a thought.

I'll be NW1 the rest of my life. I'll just have a hole on top of my head. That would be an odd pattern, not NW2-3 or whatever. I can shave my head latter. At least my face will be framed. Judging by now much more good attention women are giving me just recently with my hair, I think it is well worth it to get the best hair I can now. When I'm 50 I may have wrinkles too, so it won't matter.

And I think a woman in the chemical engineering department likes me. She walks with me after class, asked me to take notes for her, told me that on halloween she just drank at a bar (possibly means she does not have a boyfriend). Yeah, I made sure to ask her what she did for haloween instead of cheE so she'd know I like her instead of her info. Now I just got to think of some activity to ask her out on to make it obvious she is not just a collegue.

well your crown may thin as well. i know the very front wont because thats where the grafts are, but the crown may.

I very much doubt the crown will go. I'm worried about the areas within an inch of the grafts. The back half of my head will definitely stay with me for life, judging by how thick it is. It is way thicker than most of my friend's hair.

CCS how do you know you're will be a NW1 forever?

I'm losing my hair not on front and top but also on back. My donor area cleary lost a lot of density.

Also bear in mind that the transplanted hair from your donor may miniaturize over time also. I think the meds keep the hair in the anagen phase as long as possible but hair ages over time. So to say you will be a Norwood anything is a bit of a stretch if you ask me.

IMHO, we have come a long way in the last 10 yrs. 10 yrs ago hair transplant were barbaric. Meds were not mainstream. Who knows what the future lies ahead but I do believe it looks bright for everyone. Stay on the BIg 3 and pray to the hair gods. Chins up!

CCS,

Dont compare yourself to anyone else as a general rule. Everyone's hair characteristics may have some common qualities but overall physiology and genetics decide. I used to do that and it wioll drive you crazy if you start looking at everyone's head.

So what happen with that girl?? Come on now! No stories??
