how often should hair be washed when using topicals?

im not to sure but is there any downside to not wash your hair daily if your using a topical like rogaine foam 2x a day? or is their no difference if you shampoo or not

Never or every time you want to look nice and clean and you hair is dirty. Since it's summer I only wash my hair, when I go to parties, and just rinse it, when I'm going outside. If I go to school I wash it like two or three times a week and sometimes just rinse.

If you wash your hair before applying Rogaine, the hydrated scalp absorbs it faster (maybe better, too, but I couldn't say).

And wash it every day. It's good for your hair.

Scalp has to be dry before applying Regaine.

A clean scalp will be much more receptive to topicals... less dead skin and muck to get in the way of absorption.

Personally I normally shower twice a day (morning jog necessitates a morning shower, and evening workout means I have to shower if I don't want to go to bed sweaty), so my hair just gets washed twice a day with it.

Dry, yes, but you're skin is still very much hydrated for a while after a shower. From what I've read, it improves absorbtion.

Scalp doesn't need to be dry and likely slightly hydrated for Minoxidil is best provided you don't suffer minoxidil sides like water retention. An oily scalp won't absorb topicals quite as well as a clean scalp, so keep it clean. Having said that, the alcohol in most topicals will disolve through an oily scalp so its probably not a big issue provided your scalp is not super crusty uke:

kinda gearing a lil off topic but how long should one wait to shampoo after applying minoxidil or sprio. i hear 30 mins to an hour :dunno:

I wait 30 minutes, but I don't think it's enough. Just a number I read somewhere.

You need at least 1 hour. Thats what I have read in a number of places.
