just curious about the age of the people on this board, and also when everyone started losing their hair. i just turned 22 years old, and started noticing my hair loss about 6 months ago. however, i have been losing ALOT OF HAIR in those six months.

it sucks losing your hair at such a young age. my coworker asked me how old i was. i told him 22.
his reply to that was "no sh*t?, i thought you were around 30 or so from looking at your hair. what the hell happened to you?"

im 25 i noticed hair loss at 24 but it probably started much sooner.
i use to slick my hair back with gel and spray and kept is short. i looked at pictures and i now notice that my hairline was receeding around late freshman year of college compared to high school pictures.
i have thick asian hair and i use to spray my hair/where a baseball cap for 1/2 hour/then gel and spray it again to keep it slicked back-i wouldnt even THINK of doing this today

I used to do somthing similar to that too. I would use this hair wax called bees wax. THat stuff is awesome for slicking back your hair. I would put it in and slick back my hair then wear a hat for like 1/2 hour like you, then take off the hat and be ready to go. BTW i'm 19, been thinnin since 18.5 years of age. I miss my super thick hair... :(

I guess I'm somewhat of a hairloss vet now at 31. My loss has been very slow, but I noticed I was losing density around 17-18 and hairline started to lose around 20.

Like I said though, lucky my loss has been so slow. I tried rogaine 6 years ago but it gave me too much flake and itch so I had to stop. Started on finasty 4 or so years back. Could never tell if it was working. My front got thinner and receded more during this time, but I think it maintained the back.

In winter '03 my hair was getting way too thin and I decided to try minoxidil again as a last-ditch effort. I got some Lee's and since then I've had moderate frontal regrowth and really good thickening.

I probably feel better about my hair today than I had for 6-8 years! Five years ago I'd have sworn I'd be quite bald by now, but my hair is pretty dang good for 31.

Thinning at 18, now 40.

minoxidil since 1985. Propecia since FDA approved for public ('99?). Nizoral since Nov. Couvre since 1993. Frontal/Mid hair transplant 300 grafts 1996.

Frontal recently taking a beating. Crown very thin, but maintaining. Diffuse all over.

Exact same situation as Kramer3... sigh. How is yours doing Kramer? how long ya been on what regimen? I'm fairly optimistic about this whole thing, having just started finasteride 4 days ago, and done 3 nizoral shampoos, but it's a long road ahead of me, and I was just wondering how you've fared so far.

P.S. If I were losing crown, hairline, and really thin all over? I'd shave my head, no matter what my headshape. And I KNOW I have a bad headshape for shaving, I've done it before when I actually had really thick hair.

re

Im now 35 and I think I started receding when I was about 18, ?? but nothing happened for years and years and years... Im not sure if it was receding or whether it was just a high forehead?? Anyway the best thing to thicken thin straight hair is SOAP... After youve washed your hair just rub a bit of soap into the palms of your hands, gently tease it into your hair, and then blow dry, you will get more body and thickness... works for me anyway... it completely hides my problem area on top...

I started on Minoxidil 3 weeks ago as I noticed I could just start to see my scalp on top, and I think if I start now before it becomes obvious then hopefully (touch wood) it will re-grow before it had a chance to catch hold??? (touch wood again).. No problems so far...
