I had taken Propecia for almost a year and a half and then stopped for about 8 months and then back on again about 4 months ago. Also about 4 months ago I started Minoxidil 5% (brand called "Regrow"). I normally only apply it only once a day, before bed, because the dampening effect on my hair really does not allow me to apply it before work.

At first it was fine, particular I noticed for the first time small and fine hair growing before my earlier hairline, leading on to the hope that my hair line is pushing forward. Unfortunately this month or so, I experienced very dramatic hair loss and the hairline receded to historical high point. I am really worried but cannot decide whether this is what people call "shedding", i.e the dramatic fall before dramatic regrowth. The link to the "Shedding" article seems broken.

Anyway I am thinking about stopping Minoxidil because some of the posts here suggest that it can work opposite for some people - and I suspect it did in my case because for the 1.5 year when I regularly took Propecia, the trend was always improving or stable, never got worse like this, so I tend to identify Minoxidil as the culprit.

I am thinking about replacing it with Folligen or Crinagen - from some of the introductions here, it seems that Folligen is better in treating frontal hair loss - is this correct?

On the drug side, I got this link to Trichagen, which seems to suggest that it has a different method than Propecia of stopping hair loss, so may be able to help if Propecia does not. I did a search in this forum but no one seems to have used it. Just want to get an update to see if this is still the case or maybe there would be some reviews now. Someone suggests that it is likely to be crap since no one uses it. But if most oral drugs create similar chemical reactions produced by Propecia, then this Trichagen would be the logical next thing to try?

On a more general note, does anyone have any recommendation on the shampoo that we use on the days when we are not using Nirozal? Anything that is easy to get hold of, as I do not live in the States? Nirozal has a very drying effect on my hair - maybe I should switch to 1%?

Any information/recommendation will be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Philip
