I Do Want To End Up In A Hair Piece!

Ending up in a hair piece is a big fear of mine. It is a scary thought because I love my hair so much. I do not want to wear someone else's hair. I just do not know if I can do that. :shakehead:

Have any of you started wearing a hair piece? I might be over reacting. What experiences have you guys had with hair pieces? :lost:

Thanks,
Michael :woot:

It's all in your head. If you think it's a bad thing, it's a bad thing. If you think of it in a positive way, it's a good thing. I've been wearing for three years. It gets better and easier over time.

If you put it on right you won't even notice it. But when and edge lifts it can be a bit annoying or scary.

If you know no one will be up close, you can just slap in on and go out the door. I did that many times to save time. But one catch and you are done. So maybe put in the 30 minutes.

It really shouldn't take too long to attach once you get the hang of it. For me, it's 10 minutes - maximum.

All I know is my next piece will have super thin skin back perimeter. I want it in front too, but would need a very close skin color match to pass, though a lighter color might be good enough since the scalp us not tanned anyway. I'll just have to see.

Anyone here know for sure if thin skin stays glued down better than swiss lace, or is easier to clean?

If swiss lace would stick to the scalp well, and not the hair, it would be the perfect base. Good swiss is almost impossible to see from even 6 inches away looking for it. But the color match has to be close. And hard to feel too. Really good stuff. Just attachment and cleaning are tricky, for me at least.

ThinSkin will be more secure than lace because there is more surface area (no holes).
The best lace is neutral in color so it won't change the appearance of your scalp.
When attached properly, both ThinSkin and lace are undetectable to the touch.

If this was true, why should anyone buy lace with non-neutral color ?

Also, what is a "neutral color" ?, one that matches your skin ? :)

Pretty sure it means clear. Clear is more likely to reflect the sun at just the right angle. I'd get one that is your skin color if you can. Otherwise, you may have to go clear. But only french comes in clear. Many places don't have clear swiss.

When you go out in the sun, and difference between the piece and your hair will be amplified. Got to get a good match. Full cap avoids this, but your skin folding in the nape can cause trouble for the piece where it is attached there. I suspect direct sunlight would totally give away thin skin, though maybe not if the color is just right and there is no shine to it. I think only one of the clear ones is shiny. But if your skin is oily, you might prefer the shiny one, but hopefully the shine matches. Fortunately I have thick sides, so if I get a high enough density, I can hide the base enough people won't notice.

I'm sure these guys are telling the truth you can do swiss in 10 minutes, but they are very skilled, and they have to do it the right way, and have the right skin oils. If you don't do it their way, or have their chemistry, you will need more than 10 minutes. You will have a long learning curve to get there probably. I think a skin perimeter would be a much better learning curve for a newbie. But you need high enough density perhaps. For my quality of life, I'll get thin skin permeter with swiss middle.

And don't get ultrahold glue or any other super glue. They have toluene or other chemicals. Maybe safe, but the weaker glues are much easier to clean up, and certified safe for skin. You will have this on your head a lot, so better to be safe. Thin skin gives a much better bond, and has no visible knots in the hairline.
