I Recently Shaved My Head...(Norwood Advice Etc)

Recently shaved my head (thanks quarantine!). It’s growing back, but the top of my head is only coming in slowly. I fear that it’s now making my diffuse loss more obvious. Should I shave it down again or just wait for it to grow back? Also, what Norwood would you say that I am?

Any photos before you shaved it?

The first two photos are from around February (my hair was longer then usual due to the quarantine. They’re not great, since they weren’t originally taken to show my hair loss) and the last pic is from today. The top of my head isn’t growing anywhere near as quickly as the sides since I shaved it - it looks like I’m developing a horseshoe when under bright lights. I’m assuming it’ll eventually catch-up and look like it did before I shaved it?

I'm not familiar with the norwood stuff but I gotta admit your head looks neat. Better keep it short like that.

Between 10 and 15 mm would look great i think you still have good hair and it's somewhere between Norwood 2 and 2.5 depending on how high is your forehead naturally, but it's diffuse also... But yeah try different lengths and see how it looks, you will find one that you will like the most for sure.

Yes, buzz cut will look good for people with high hairline. Also you won't notice any shedding.

You hair hasn't changed much in the first photo in all these years. But the shaved head shows things worse than maybe a few years back. You still can look like a full head in the first photo.

What Norwood do you think I’m diffusing to? My hair shaved looks almost exactly like my older brother’s did when he was about 30 (which I’ll be in two months) and it sped up pretty quickly after that, so I’m a bit worried the same will happen to me.

You probably don't want to hear this, but I'd say go with the shaved head. You could kick *** with that headshape.

That’s what I figured, but thanks for confirming. Sunday will be a four weeks since I shaved my head and the top is still coming in slowly (the two pics are from yesterday and last week). I’m feeling self conscious, but I don’t want to shave it off, since I know that if I wait, it’ll eventually grow back. It’s just hard seeing the beginnings of a horseshoe every time I look in the mirror. How long do you think I have before I permanently lose those hairs?

It could stay like that for years. It's hard to predict.

A quick update since I’ve last posted. I’ve been letting the buzz grow back and this is currently where I am. Is this still a Norwood 2.5 hairline?

Holy sh*t, that's why you should never buzz a diffuse thinning head. I decided to stop cutting my hair, I'm more than convinced to do so.

That's why diffuse sucks so much. You only ser the true state of your hair when you shave
Yes, I wouldn’t recommend unless you’re unsure that you’re actually losing your hair, because it definitely emphasizes any bit of loss. Also, the sides and back grow back quickly, but the top takes FOREVER to grow.

Leave it shaved. It suits you more. You won’t have to worry about hair anymore. Shave it, own it.
