All,
I've been on AvoDart 0.5mg for 6+ years. As of the last 6-9 months, my hair has noticeably started thinning in the front crown and along my hairline. The 5-6 years on Avodart was great for my hair - it stopped my hair loss like you wouldn't believe.
As I have discussed elsewhere on the hair transplant Forum, it seems AvoDart is starting to become ineffective. I dabbled with minoxidil 12.5% back in college but it gave me the worst dandruff and itching episodes and I always thought this hurt my hair loss more than it was worth.
I think I am ready to give it another shot but I'm a little lost. Should I order generic Minoxidil from Costco? Which percentage? I would be interested in something that lessens scalp itch and dandruff; I've heard of minoxidil "combos" that is minoxidil + some other ingredients.
Basically, I need a crash course in growth stimulants. Any takers?
Thank you very much.
FYI: I'm 28 and probably about a Norwood 2. The part that concerns me most is not the hairline (I can try to cover that part up) but the general thinning on my front crown. It's gotten really bad - almost disproportionately so in comparison to the rest of my head.
