I would do more if I was that depressed...

Hair loss does impact my life pretty badly -- looking at an older/deformed person in the mirrors is the worst. My 2 exes before kept commenting on me losing hair... they told me that this is the "feature" they like least in me. Luckily for me, I didn't like them.

But some of you here are WAY too depressed. If I was THAT depressed, that negative, if I placed AS MUCH weight on hair loss in my life, I know I will be trying things, experimental stuff.

I would frickin order a DKK1 inhibitor, which NO one has done yet, and which studies have shown that it SHOULD world...Or I would try a strong PGD2 inhibitor, or I would try an ultra strong anti-androgen, or I would try PRP or go and do a transplant with both body and scalp hair... I would probably also use lasers, ... everything that MIGHT work...

I would surely start with DKK1 which is the most promising for regrowth.

I am NOT recommending things here, I am just saying that people MOST affected (mentally) by hairloss are those that can contribute most. I have done my fair share of experimentation with drugs that only very few have tried, and I reported my results.

It's when you already are NW5 and have exhausted every avenue of researching various drugs/treatments that you can assess that none of them are feasible or viable solutions. THERE IS NOTHING for us. Bald men are in a hopeless situation as far as treatment options are concerned. Utterly powerless... so yes, being depressed about it is a perfectly natural response.

Yes, DKK1 might lead to regrowth, theoretically at least.
If i was NW5 i think will go to hassan & wong or some other top Doctor, and get maximum density they could give me, plus follow it up with body hair, and keep my hair short. I understand though buddies it is not easy, and depend on donor

You surely must be delusional to think you can just "order" a dkk1 inhibitor and grow all your hair back.

It's as stupid as toying with fgf9 or any other experimental chemical for that matter.

They're more than likely only a small piece of the puzzle, Cotsarelis will give you another piece of the puzzle around 2017 or so, whenever it's been 5 years from his last discovery.

I hate sitting around and watching my hair fall out too but it's not like the answer is already out there and we just simply have to reach for it.

Nothing we can do but wait, something us baldies are very good at doing.

I don't understand all the people who don't even take finasteride posting stuff about baldness being the end of their life etc. Then also being dismissive of success stories from people who are doing things like taking oral spironolactone and minoxidil. I think I would probably look at hair pieces prior to taking a step beyond finasteride personally though. I haven't seen that many people with super dilligent topical regimens either.

Starting finasteride was a "yes I'm that depressed about it" moment for me...

Simply put, if you can't tolerate a 5AR inhibitor, your options become very limited. It's not like we have multiple drugs that target different pathways.

If you can't take finasteride then you can't take dutasteride, and if you can't tolerate either of those then I think it's best you stay away from spironolactone.

Tolerate in terms of brain fog? I've seen plenty of people who don't care about ED and fertility style sides because they are truly that depressed about the hair they don't care about sexual sides and don't wish to procreate and pass on their misery.

Oral minoxidil is also a common approach when people reach that way of thinking

I don't know, just generally can't handle the drug and it's side effects.

We shouldn't have to trade in one thing for another, that's a poor way to "treat" something.

most people dont have the sides though. it's just a few fearmongerer's that scream about it at the top of their lungs.

now i'm not saying NOBODY has sides, but most people don't. i know too many people who have taken it in real life and had no issues (myself included). not to mention the studies. but just the fact that there have been sides before makes the medication worth less i think.

most people take it and keep their hair, then forget about hair in the first place, so they dont come on forums raving about it.

Sides or not takes a back seat to the fact that taking the Big 3 and any other peripheral drugs/treatments won't recover enough hair to make a significant cosmetic difference for someone who is already nw5 +. Unless they have unusually densley packed donor hair which most do not. JZA70 is right, there is nothing viable out there hence this hopeless waiting game.

Just wear a wig, superglue it and never take it off in front of anyone and never tell anyone. Live with a secret...better than being considered non-entity.
