If you could go back in time to meet your younger self at whatever age you choose and warn yourself about the trials and tribulations of male pattern baldness, what wisdom would you impart to yourself about male pattern baldness?

I know we are in a hairloss forum, but male pattern baldness would be the last thing on my mind if I get the chance to speak to the younger me.

advice?

get a nice looking GF, make her fall in love deeply with you.

So that when you're balding, she wouldn't give a rat ***.

impossible to get dumped if she's deeply in love with "you" in the first place.

Once you lose your hair it's gonna be hard to maker her reach that point.

I tell from experience of a friend, his girl still loves him AFTER he started balding BAD and he treats like sh*t and yes he has a big bald spot, he shaved it though.

I would have said stop using shitty brands of shampoo, stop smoking, binge drinking and acquire a better diet; those things definitely didn't help.

I was f*****g clueless!

I would tell myself:

1. Maybe start the hairloss meds a bit earlier. (Maybe a future regret?)
2. Try to avoid minoxidil
3. Don't ever start smoking. Cook the cannabis instead. Run far away from tobacco.
4. Don't get fat
5. Take people less seriously especially as a kid/teenager
6. Treasure memories more and be grateful for things you take advantage of

They might not of helped but they probably had virtually no effect on your m.p.b either.

Like Dudemon I come from the pre internet/known treatments balding era. I dont even know if the big 3 would have saved me from my aggressive m.p.b genetics.
I certainly would have told myself to avoid UK hair transplant's and go with Hassan and Wong.

As far as the other side of things go, I'd have told myself to open my eyes and see that I'm not the only bald guy in the world and see that there are plenty of others who manage to live just fine with baldness.

1-8) Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, start finasteride.
9) WTF are you doing, I said not to start finasteride!
10) Live your life to the max because hairloss is gonna wreck you soon.

My life was basically on hold when I still had a full head of hair, I thought I'd have plenty of time to socialize and enjoy myself after graduating. Then, hairloss hit me at 23 and boom, it was over.

The question was for me, not for you, a**h**.

GHG, why are you so against FInasteride?

Lots of sexual and other sides. The sexual sides include very low libido, no sensation of orgasm, loss of feeling, hard to get the "member" up, decreased amount of semen, penis curvature, no random boners, no morning boners (well very rarely, whereas pre-finasteride it was every morning). These have happened because of finasteride for sure and I also suspect that my skin problems (never had dandruff or constant scalp itch pre-finasteride) and "hypothyroid-like" symptoms; very low body temp most of the time, feeling cold, cold feet, tiredness, etc. may have been caused by finasteride.

Constant joint and muscle pain, especially legs hurt, can also be speculated. During my 2nd and last stint on finasteride a lot of my teeth suddenly went brown and the tips are see-through. I don't smoke and hardly eat any sugar anymore and my teeth are now the worst they've ever been. Some users on propeciahelp.com have reported this side so it probably isn't a coincidence.

I also constantly wake up "early" and find it hard to fall asleep again. I get like max 5-6 hrs of sleep before waking and have these really "real" long dreams EVERY NIGHT which means that I can't get to deep sleep much at all. I didn't used to remember my dreams very often (probably didn't see them because I was able to get to deep sleep phase) but now I remember them every morning.

All in all, it's safe to say that finasteride has ruined what was left of my life after hairloss started.

The drug came out around the time my diffusing was kicking in so I would set the date for 1998 and tell myself to get on it asap. I would also tell myself to get a job and save up for an hair transplant. Intervention at that critical time may have resulted in a non bald version of me now. Even if it didn't I would have the cold comfort of knowing I tried, and thus be able to digest my fate easier.

Damn that's scary as f***.
How can a drug causing all this sh*t even for a small minority be still on the market?

I think GHG must be the only man on the planet to such extreme reactions. I think maybe he was sold Kryptonite instead of finasteride.

No I'm not the only one with drastic sides. Propeciahelp.com is full of men with similar side-effects, even worse, complete impotence etc. At least I'm not completely impotent.

Nice looking teeth for someone who used to have almost perfectly white teeth...

The only explanation I can think of is that last year I experienced this infamous "finasteride crash" when my health suddenly took an u-turn for the worse. It was an onset of many different symptoms, including this teeth phenomenom. My visceral fat levels raised 10x after these symptoms arrived, lots of dandruff, low body temperature, dry coarse thin hair, etc. I'm scared to go to dentist because I believe I have lots of cavities.

Brushing or not brushing has got nothing to do with this. I've brushed my teeth like I always have.
