Is .5 mg EOD an acceptable dose?

Diffuse thinner here.So the thing is,I started on finpecia .5mg everyday since late february or whereabouts. What I thought were sexual sides appeared a week in,and then got much milder.Everything was fine,I saw no shedding or anything,no difference at all,in fact my hair looked a tad better by April and May.Then in July I thought I had been getting side effects so I decided to make it .5 mg propecia EOD.The "sides" completely stopped. So now its been about a 2 months of this differing dosage, and I see myself losing ground. Is this normal,or is it just shedding?

I use a pill cutter.

I saw several sources saying much lower dosages than 1mg a day can give you good results, even stating taking such as .25mg every 3 days could be effective. However, other sources like this f***** Exodus say otherwise.I was doing good but over the summer and now it looks like I lost ground.Does this mean regrowth is around the corner or is it because I made it .5mg EOD?

Even 0.2 mg of Finasteride would do the job for hairs. i think that 0.5mg is more than enough.

^So even .5mg every other day would be good enough?I don't know if it's placebo, but I feel I have zero sides at that dosage. But I also sometimes feel that it's "not enough".

That's funny actually. The concept of placebo works the other way around.
Do you want sides and wait for them? The answer to your question lies in your genes and can only be answered by yourself over time. Will a dose be enough? Nobody can tell you, you have to try. Depends on your male pattern baldness.

So,the sides could be placebo?I have only the sides of lowered libido and weaker boners. But the thing is I felt totally normal after I stopped taking finasteride after just two days?Anyways,so you are saying the dosage of finasteride best for you depends on your male pattern baldness?

Yes, it depends on your male pattern baldness: how aggressive it is, how sensitive your follicles are to DHT, how old you are and probably plenty of other factors. Also, not all people respond the same to finasteride. Check out Bernstein Medical for before/after pics. Some guys took a low dose and had tremendous results.

I'm not sure I understood your comment on placebo. Of course the sides could be placebo or the could be real. Try not to look for them to much and read too much about them. Find a low dose you feel comfortable with and observe your results. Give it enough time. I'm talking many months! Any dose finasteride is better than no finasteride. Good luck.

Proscar costs me about 4$ per month at 1.25mg/day. Too busy to cut the pill? You should reconsider how you spend your money and time, I was so happy when I went from Propecia to Proscar.

Okay, well I would like to add my shedding is either staying still or still losing ground.I am below baseline.What.THE.****.Is it because I am taking Finpecia from inhousepharmacy?I am freaking out,as last semester I didn't need a hat and it could be remedied with a shaved head.I am now a hat prisoner. Was it because I changed up the dosage?Or was I supposed to go through a shed?I am freaking out and wanting to quit and say **** YOU PROPECIA!But idk what to do.At least I haven't had real sides.

Please help me anyone.Tell me why I am below baseline now.I am seriously almost panicky.

I'm trying to avoid that dosage for now.Idk if it makes any sense but my theory is to let my body get used to and see results with a lower dosage and once it stops being effective if it does to raise the dosage.

Hey upyours, any changes in the shedding?

I'm kind of in a similar situation - started Propecia at .5mg/day around 5 months ago, and dropped down to .25mg/day around a month ago (just to avoid sides I may have potentially been getting). While shedding stopped noticeably in the initial months of taking .5mg, for the past couple weeks, after switching to .25 mg, my shedding increased significantly. The hairs I lose are almost always more miniaturized and shorter than the healthier hair on my head. Is that the same for you as well?

I have this gut feeling that the switch to the lower dosage caused my increase in shedding. But I don't know if that's necessary conclusive enough to say .5mg works, and .25mg doesn't. From what I understand about upregulation, when you're on Propecia, androgen receptors become more sensitive to DHT; when you stop taking the pill and DHT levels are back where they used to be, you lose all (or at least a lot) of the hair you saved. In my mind, if we increased our DHT levels just slightly by switching to a lower dosage, it makes sense that we would see a disproportional loss of hair immediately afterwards...but it would even out and still prove to be beneficial after a while.

I am having one side effect which has came back :)( it went but came back recently), so I am considering reducing the dose to 0.5mg per day.

I read differing opinions all over, but the general feeling is that 0.5mg is about 80% as effective as 1mg per day in preventing the formation of DHT. That doesn't mean it's 80% as effective in preventing hair loss, though. Could be more, could be less.

Quesoman, I was under the impression that the loss of hair due to stopping Propecia would be gradual. Quicker than "naturally", but the follicle will need attacking all over again, so it will have to go through the whole shrnking, regrowing thinner, shrinking etc... phases.

If you are going to call people ***gots then most of us do not care how much hair you have lost and we hope you loose it all, feel bad about yourself and never get laid again.

grow up, don't be ignorant and evolve like the rest of us past your homophobic insecurities. I am not gay but I know that people that call others ***gots are just a little curious about their own sexual orientation. Maybe you should try to explore yourself more or simply just confront your phobia and alpha male delusion.
