Does it help to control or hide obvious hair loss on the sides? Does keeping one's hair very short detrimental to regrowing the hair or beneficial? My hair is short but not crew cut short. It is about 1 1/2" long. Should I consider cutting it shorter?
it's definitely not detrimental to regrowth or anything like that. it's typically suggested just because it looks much better than sporting long yet thinned-out hair. it's cleaner, makes you look more youthful, feels better and is easier to manage. keeping your hair long also makes it look like you're trying to hide something (sometimes) when you hair is thinning.
2 days ago, I was a hair's width away (har har) from buzzing my hair off because of how awful it was looking on my right temple. But instead, I went down to 1 inch, and I comb it straight down (but still making it look a little messy) and it almost completely hides it.
Sure, my hair isn't as "cool" as it was a few weeks ago, but I almost literally felt the stress drain from my body after I cut it. Longer hair on me tends to focus on the thin parts.
I almost look exactly like I did back in high school, and it's very encouraging.
