Hello,

I apologise if this is a dumb question but I've been extremely paranoid over the past month or two about this but I feel as if my hairline is receding and I'm worried this is a sign I'll go bald in the near future. I think my worry comes from the fact that both of my grandfathers lost their hair around my age. My father has a full head of hair at 52 but I assume that doesn't mean much.

im sorry to say but it looks like your hair is receding because you're losing your juvenile hairline. there are some thin wispy miniaturized hairs on your hairline

the recession may stop as it looks like now or it could progress further. hairloss is random genetics and it sucks

God I hope it stops here at least during my 20s. Thank you for letting me know.

It could be maturation. I wouldn't necessarily hop on treatments just yet. Just monitor and keep an eye on it every couple months.

I was considering starting treatments now so I could get it early but alright, I'll see if it gets any worse first.

It's possible you could maintain the hair you have right now for basically the rest of your life. Of course it's important to take family history into account. But the fact that you are checking up on it is good and will prevent you from catching it too late,. You're in a good position.

That does remove some of the stress I've been having over this, thank you.

Looks like there is thinning in the centre of your hairline. A bald maternal grandfather is a bad sign.

Do you think this guarantees that my hairline will continue to thin or could it just be maturing?

No one knows, you just have to keep monitoring it and if the thinning gets worse there are treatments to try and stop it. You must have noticed a change in your hairline otherwise you wouldn't be posting here.
