Is my hairline receding?

I just recently got my haircut really short and a friend of mine said, "Dude, you're going bald!" I took a look and it looks like my temples are receding.

I kinda figured I was, I go to see a dermatologist next week to hear what they have to say. Although, if it turns out I am losing my hair I honestly don't mind as much as I thought I would.

Yeah its hard to tell because your hand is sort of in the way. I think I can see VERY minor recession in your second picture. How old are you though? , this could just be your hairline maturing a bit. If you have a picture handy from say a year ago it would be useful to do a comparison with. Just to verify, that area next to your sideburns you shaved correct? But yeah going to a derm is a good idea and also take pictures over the next like year, I think basically everyone should take pictures and have a little file on their computer somewhere just to keep track of their hair.

I'm 27, I don't have any pics from last year but I do know that my hairline was not back that far at all, there was no recession last year.

You have a spectacular hairline for 27. I highly doubt hair-loss will be much of an issue for you. I would recommend to you nizoral shampoo and taking pictures every now and then. Even the whole taking pictures might be unnecessary. I think you're pretty set in terms of hair genetics.
