I'm 32, my whole life is just stalling and I feel like sh*t and on top of that the last 2 months I have anxiety that I can't even function. I'd like to write a longer post explaining everything and perhaps you guys could help me get a better diagnosis than those clueless doctors I'm seeing but I can't bring myself to write it now.

I'd just like to at least know if there's any hope out there for either an anti depressant or a something against anxieties to just help me function, live.

Major update:
Disregard what I said about not losing hair, I don't care about it now. For anyone willing to hear me out skip to post #23 where I describe how in a time span for 2+ months my life changed and I suffer from headpressures, lighthead, anxiety/panic attacks pretty much almost everyday I really need help.

If you are depressed and or anxious (the two things are often related and - mostly - anti anxiety medicines can trigger depression) you should see a psychiatrist. I would steer clear of therapists: psychiatrists are more knowledgeable about the brain's chemistry and they can also be therapists.

Why do you say anxiety or depression drugs cause hair loss? Paroxetine does not, or at least < 1% of cases.

But over here in Europe it is not over the counter: you need a prescription and rightfully so.

Try either 5HTP or PharmaGABA.

Swoop, just realized Pharma GABA is basically the same as what you are promoting.
I was prescribed Buspar and it ripped my stomach apart. I liked how I felt when it kicked in but GABA does a similar thing but not as effective without any drowsy side effects or stomach issues. Actually it helps me focus better.

Yes, well the major difference is that GABA doesn't penetrate the blood brain barrier well, whereas phenibut does.

This makes phenibut way more effective as an anxiolytic than GABA. Phenibut is on another level honestly.

I assume that since phenibut is an derivative of GABA the biological targets are at least somewhat similar, like you mention. The difference is really that phenibut does reach the brain to elicit a biological response whereas GABA doesn't or has minimal activity. Then again I haven't looked that deep into these pathways.

Actually "pharma" GABA is designed to do just that. Checkout Natural Factors Pharma GABA.

You mean this one; http://naturalfactors.com/product/gaba-100-mg/?

If so that is just marketing talk to make you believe it is just superior or designed to do "just that". They state that it is superior sourced GABA produced by a bacteria. It doesn't mind though as it will still be GABA. This product isn't actually more superior than GABA that is produced/synthesized by another method.

Ultimately the molecular structure between this "pharma" GABA and normal GABA will be exactly the same. Hence, there will be no difference between the two in terms of permeability towards the BBB.

Yes! Well you may be right but it seems to work. I do feel the better on it than off it.

Just because you take an anti depressant doesn't mean you will loose hair.

@Massive,

Phenibut brah. Just treat it with respect.

Phenibut won't have any effect on your hair.
I plan on running a cycle of phenibut, and GABA like you mentioned earlier

Exert the OTC options before obtaining trying the counter skittles.

hopefully these supplements can do the trick

you a rep brah? lol

you're definitely peaking my curiosity with this phenibut talk, what would the effect be on someone who has very very mild anxiety, probably a normal amount. would i just feel like a god or what?

It should remove any stress or anxiety for the day you use it and basically just put you in a confident and lifted mood. I don't have social anxiety really but that's what I get from it. Also take it with caffeine, stimulant has a nice synergistic effect. The first time I used it was truly godmode. Use it sparingly or will it just become less effective (once a week max imo)

@shookwun i cannot wait for your field report on your first day of Phenibut usage. could beat the night of the toupee

Swoop and Dench are not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with Big Phenibut or any of its subsidiaries or its affiliates

is it really that intense? i mean i dont really suffer from social anxiety either but may use it on a date or something just to feel alpha af.

and the drawback is obviously the withdrawal i read about on another page?.. would you say there would be any withdrawal symptoms from once every 2 week usage for lets say a night out drinking?

no it's not that intense. the first time I took a big dose it was great though but i haven't recaptured that. Depends on your dose obviously, can take as little or as much as you want to find the sweet spot. i personally don't take it with drinking, it just makes me sleepy. It lowers your inhibition anyway since it works on the same receptor. You'll also get wasted quicker.

there wouldn't be any tolerance/withdrawal issues once every 2 weeks

Good posts by Denchbrah, I don't have anything to add really.

You won't become Zeus himself but some benefits that it can have:

- Lowers anxiety
- Stimulates prosocial behaviour
- You'll feel "content"
- Slight euphoria/heightened mood.
- Better sleep

My sweet spot was 1200-1500mg daily divided in 2 doses, 3-4 hours apart. Couple it with one or two redbulls (just some caffeine basically)

@shookwun,

Just don't cycle it mate. Don't use it more than 2 times a week.

For something that you can use long-term, that also has anxiolytic and anti-depressant properties and won't make your hair fall out, you could try Trazodone.

Bonus points: it helps with insomnia and won't f*** up your sleep cycles.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trazodone said:
Medical uses:
Anxiety disorder
Unipolar depression, with or without anxiety
Insomnia

Off-label and investigational uses (abridged):
Fibromyalgia
Control of nightmares
Panic disorder
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
Alcohol withdrawal
Erectile dysfunction

I've been using it side-effect free since I was 24 (I'm now 32), way before I started losing hair. I only use it at night because of its hypnotic properties - which is exactly the reason I started taking it in the first place.

I take 25mg everyday (I'm a lightweight dude) but you could probably get the best out of the molecule without zonking yourself out with only 50mg. For reference, the common dosage for full-blown depression is 200mg.

Quitting is easy but it's better to taper off slowly or risk facing a few sleepless nights.

I definitely too support phenibut. Combination with caffeine do make wonders. I personaly love it to combine with strong mate tea.

I use phenibut only when I have to finish composing projects. And man, it feels great. I was 10 days in a row on it and ended with 3 times higher dose than in the beginning. Felt great, but following short withdrawal was bad. I couldn´t sleep properly for 2 weeks. I wasn´t capable to meditate. And mood swings - I just felt completely like unappreciated strong independent woman on period while watching fairy tail.... So be really careful.
To sum it up. It is good, but not for everyday consumption. Otherwise you will have to increase dosage really fast and benefits will be lower and lower.. And withdrawal is really harsh.
P.S. @Massive your beard... is so massive. I would slay a full head for such beard.

Anxiolytics, like GABA agonists, don't treat anxiety disorders. They provide temporary symptomatic relief.Longterm, they will put you in a vicious cycle with severe side effects.
Anxiety disorders are treated with anti-depressants and most importantly with lifestyle changes that deal with the initial cause of the disorder.
The first question you need to ask yourself for choosing the right medicine is:Has your appetite increased or decreased?
