Hey everyone,

Been a lurker for a while. Well, I've been so far on genuine Propecia for 5+ months, alas no change, in fact I think that my thinning areas have only spread our further.

I just got my 1st 3 month supply of Dutas, took my first pill. Basically I want to switch to Dutasteride, but don't want to quit Propecia yet. I was thinking about taking 0.5mg dutas everyday and add 1mg propecia 3x/week. I also don't mind kick starting my dutas with 1.5mg a day for a while. Basically I'd like to get some feedback on this, thanks.

P.S. Although I wonder if applying Toppik/Caboki almost everyday (started half a year ago, a few weeks before Propecia) has to do with further shedding.

If I were you, I'd just take 0.5 mg daily of Dutasteride. The capsules or tablets depending on which type you got come in 0.5 milligram doses, so just take one once daily, that's what I do, and I myself do take Dutasteride to treat my Male Pattern Baldness. Also, there's no point in continuing to take Finasteride since you've switched 5-AR inhibitors, and there's no need kick start Dutasteride with 1.5 mg daily. As recommended, just start taking 0.5 mg daily of Dutasteride, stay with it, and just quit Finasteride altogether.

Applying Toppik and/or Caboki do not have anything to do with further shedding.

Thanks for your reply. Yes the dutasteride pills I have are Dr. Reddy's Dutas which come in 0.5mg pills. The only reason I thought about still taking Propecia is because I'm only 5 months in, actually I want to keep taking it as a 'safety precaution' in case my body would eventually respond better to Propecia. I think I'll finish my current Propecia left overs before quitting entirely.

Start taking it before you come off finasteride, prepare for a possible shed anyway but better to start loading it up, it is only 0.5mg but it has a very long half life, so takes time to build up in your system.

Is there any reason why you decided to switch from finasteride to dutasteride so early?

I also got some dutasteride, but I've been holding off on taking them since I've heard some people say upregulation may occur with DHT inhibitors, essentially rendering them ineffective after a certain number of years in which case waiting until propecia stops working before taking dutasteride may buy a few more years...

And maybe you would have the same amount of time, if you started out on dutasteride or started out with finasteride and switched to dutasteride later on.......:uglylol:

I personally doubt that this is really the case. At least, I am yet to find any evidence at all to suggest that 5-ar inhibitors themselves can have an effect like this.

I'm looking to make this switch too and was thinking about starting with both.

I was on Propecia 1mg ED for 5+ months and saw no results, just further shedding continuously. I felt like I had nothing to lose except more hair. I then started taking 1mg Propecia + 0.5mg Dutas (Dr. Reddy's) ED, I'm not sure if my mind was playing tricks on me with the whole brain fog/libido (erection hardness, sorry for TMI) situation or it really happened. I then quit altogether for 1 week and now I take one day 1mg Propecia and the next day 0.5mg dutas and so on.

Hair is still shedding all the time, if I run my hands over my hair I get around 20 hairs fall off in under a minute and just about anytime I run my hands through my hair randomly I get 1-3 hairs on them.
I use hair concealers such as Caboki/Toppik pretty much everyday including the gym, I think it would be really weird if the people that know me would see me without a concealer all of the sudden. To think that just about 1 year ago my hair wasn't that bad, I never even thought about using a concealer. I'll upload some pictures later on. All I can do for now is stay optimistic.
